Of course not that's ridiculous. A mid-table finish is exactly what we should be aiming for only three league games into the season. We will fin-ish twelfth say We will fin-ish twelfth! We will fin-ish twelfth say We will fin-ish twelfth! E-I-E-I-O to the middle of the football league we go. When we get to 13th this is what we'll sing: Take it easy, have a rest lads, we're alright just here! The Gas are going up (to 12th)! The Gas are going up (to 12th)! And now you're gonna believe us And now you're gonna believe us And now you're gonna believe uuuuusssss The Gas are going up (to 12th)! So we should always be watered off if we don't challenge for promotion, regardless of the state of our facilities and budget in relation to other clubs? Is this what you're saying? Don't get me wrong we should be ambitious, but we should also not be unrealistic. Realism is important in my view and it is not defeatist, it's simply a way of trying to have a level headed view of what our expectations should be, when all things are considered. Does that mean we should not at least aim higher? Of course not. I think if you read my posts you'll see that's the opposite of what I'm saying. It's clear that regardless of how early on in the season it is our aspiration should always be to finish in a nothing position about 10th (pushing it to be honest) to 16th. Any ideas that we might be competitive in the league we're in are stupid we need realism. We need to bumble around the bottom till Christmas and then smash a sweet sweet mid-table finish from January onwards. UTG (but not too far).

I think at the start of the season the team should have the belief that they are one of the best teams in the division, will be feared by other teams and will be in the promotion chase. Now this is obviously not always realistic but the player sould believe it. Personally I would be fine anywhere but relegated and ecstatic if we get promoted. If you enter a league saying this or that team are better than us and all we can hoe for is a mid table finish then you are probably going to get relegated. Every match is there for the points to be taken.

as i said they love to complain Absolute nonsense. It’s not about loving to complain, it’s about wanting your football club to change a manager who by any measure has been an absolute disaster. The worst in our whole history in fact. What seems to be more true about our fan base is that we don’t complain enough when we see such diabolical failure and performance well below what should be achieved, day after day, month after month and year after year.

I haven't heard or seen it myself, which doesn't mean it hasn't happened of course. You seem very passionate about not being happy with mid table and that is a great attitude. I am just wondering what is making you say mid table. Has someone said this is the aim? I mean only 3 games have gone so far. Still 43 to go (hopefully). Plenty of time for challenging further up. If time is allowed of course. give it time and it will work-negatives dont want it to happen -Garner will get it right-mid table this season -top six next-its a completley new squad what do people expect-the wins will come but the negatives will always find something to complain about as thats their life This is an absolutely perfect measure. This is 11 points from 7 games which is 1.6 pts per game ie mid table form. So it's not pie in the sky, unobtainable. The other thing is that, if the target became unobtainable by end of the period ie first 4 games provided less than 2 points, he could be relieved early.

Mine are widely available on here. You ask a perfectly relevant question, “what do people expect.” Rather than just try and shout even louder, I’ll try and give an answer, I can’t speak for others but I’ll tell you what I expect, as well as what I didn’t expect. I expected us to be able to be competitive which we were until the last 10 minutes of the first two matches and the second half at Doncaster. I expect a manager who can recognise what the opposition are trying to do and can counter it as the match progresses. The second halves have been dreadful. We haven’t done that. I expect a manager to set us up so we have a chance to play, a chance to score and a chance to win. Our set up so far have been poor. I expect, having recruited the squad he wants, the manager to be able, after pre-season training, to be delivering a style of play that gives us a chance. We haven’t done that and I’ve not really worked out what our style is or will be. I expect how we play to be able to give our forward (s) a chance to score without having their backs to the goal continually and receiving hopeless passes. I expect the players to look interested and enthusiastic, unfortunately they have started to argue and bicker after conceding. It was a bit embarrassing in Saturday. I really don’t expect that. I also expect some realism and honesty in his press conferences either pre-match or post-match. They are woeful, if they make me smile with how he puts the blame elsewhere and his use of 20 words where 2 or 3 would do I hate to think what the players think. So I expect more there. I expect more shots on goal and more chances created but the stats so far are woeful. I could go on but I hope you get the gist! And to finish just two more: Although it’s only a small thing, it’s beginning to irk me but if he really wants to be our manager could he possibly look as if he’s the BRFC manager and not someone who’s rolled out for a Sunday League match in anything that was close to hand? Some branded clothing would be a start. And finally, I certainly didn’t expect to be bottom of the league, even after 3 matches, two of them difficult but the third against a club on a par with us. You’ll realise reading other stuff that I actually support BG and hope he turns it around but when you talk about expectations I’m happy to give you mine. Here’s hoping for a win tomorrow!😉 UTG! I'm not a BG fan boy but he's clearly wearing a BRFC Macron training top, what do you actually expect him to wear for a pre-match interview, the full Rovers kit? Back to the interview I find his response to the Bryon question odd, as you'd hope the 1st team manager would have some input into who we employ as club coaches, or at least be aware of who we were appointing. It's not like we're a top Premiership club with loads of coaches.

Of course the cup games are his team. But I have only counted the league games as they are the ones that actually matter. For example, would you rather get relegated but have a good cup run or the opposite? But if you really want to, lets count the 2 cup games. 1 was against Ipswich, which as we already learned from my previous comment is a tough opponent - like they still was when we faced them in the league shortly afterwards. The other was Walsall, A DC side with a lot to prove against his former side, which we didn't actually lose (forgetting the penalty shoot out of course). But none of that matters as they still full under the fact that we are a new side, players still getting use to each other - which should (hopefully improve as we go along.
Some will say that I am a happy clapper but I am not. I just see the bigger picture and understand that things take time and we need patience. Instant success will not happen, yet that is what people obviously expected after some of our signings. And to be honest with you, I actually was expecting much better myself in these 3 league games. But that was my expectations when we actually had a goal threat. My expectations lowered a lot when he left because we know longer had that goal threat which would on paper worry the opposition before the game. His goals are gone and need to be replaced, like what happened when Bodin, Taylor and Harrison left. Its hard as (we know) to replace those goals. Hopefully our new strikers start scoring regularly to start worrying the opposition. But like most things in life, this will take time.
So, just to clarify ... cup game against Oxford on Tuesday - counts or not? Don't think my comment really needs clarifying. I have been clear with MY opinion, which is just that. An opinion. However as I am in a good mood, I am happy to clarify....
ALL this seasons games (league and cup) are HIS team and that is what I will only be counting. I just think its harsh to count last season games for reasons already stated.
Earlier, I only said the 3 league games (not counting the cup games) because I was just trying to calm some folks down and say "look, its only been 3 league games. Chill. Give it time. Show some patience". That kind of thing. Being a voice of reason if you like. And for you, I added the 2 cup games in my comment above that you kindly included.

You literally started your post saying you've only counted the league games. Now you're saying all games count. Its not as clear as you think really. You've told me to write off the Ipswich result because we have to expect them to be too good for us. I'm asking you what expectation you think is reasonable going into a cup game v Oxford. Pretty simple question. You made clear on your earlier posts there were limits on your expectations and your attitude to games was pre-determined before the match started so what I'm asking is for that same overview before the Oxford game.

MID-TABLE!!!!!! WHOOOOOOO!!!! Do we dare to dream? Mid-tay-bull! Mid-tay-bull! Mid-tay-bull! Whose on the mid-table bus with us?! Come on guys! We can do it! What a season that's gonna be! Seriously. Can you imagine? Wael will have to break out the open top bus if we smash a mid-tabler. F**K YEAH! And where do you believe we should be? Top of the league, 100% win ratio and 0 goals conceded? Every team in this league can beat each other on their day and we don’t have a god given right for it. Based upon our current squad, infrastructure etc - I think we are a high mid table side.

What he has done is virtually wipe out a whole team and replaced it with a group of kids and a few players from clubs the same or lower than us. It is a recipe for diasaster, and no amount of loans will make any difference. I will be amazed of we get halfway, even more amazed if we dont go down. And, if BG is so good, why was he unemployed when we took him on? It’s not been proven a disaster yet - it’s been 3 league games! It may well prove a disaster but for that to be the case you need a reasonable sample to prove it with his own team (hence why I’m not including last season) Eddie Howe, the Cowley’s, Paul Cook and many many other football managers are unemployed - does that make them rubbish managers? In and out of football you’ll find lots of people unemployed, doesn’t mean they’re not any good?

Any last doubts I had that we are better off without him are now gone after that pathetic pre match brief. Balanced a little by the awful amateur from the BBC asking truly crap questions. I have lost any final respect I had for him - Bore Off Garner!
No idea - No passion - Clearly no man management skills
Embarrassing that he is running (or should that be ruining) the match day experience.
I think I will be doing something else tomorrow afternoon - first time I have thought that in a long while.

I have to say, that is a very reasoned response. I personally am not BG's biggest fan but I have supported him on here as I feel he is being treated very harshly in many ways by some who want instant success, by some who can't see the bigger picture and of course there are probably many other reasons that people have, which is all people's opinions that I respect. Even though I don't agree with them on this and I am fully prepared to give BG a lot of time and patience - still believing that the new philosophy of the club will work - I agree with you on a lot of your points. Even though I am giving BG and the team all the time in the world to start taking us forward and understanding the start of the season were tough games - which became even harder after our goal threat JCH left - I still expected some fight and passion for the shirt and to be competitive. I did not like GC. I hated his style. But it got results. Why? Because it made us hard to break down and hard to beat. We haven't showed that yet in any of the 3 league games (apart from a little bit at Sunderland) or 5 games including cup games, which has really disappointed me. To keep me on side, I am expecting to see some sort of progression on the pitch with being competitive because soon, even my patience will run thin.

Anything below then I think we’ve under performed, anything above then I think we’ve exceeded expectations. Sometimes teams who don’t expect to finish high do - Wycombe etc and teams who expect to win the league don’t - Sunderland etc last season. I just don’t see how we should be expecting to have won every game so far this season? Why do you think we should have?

Not one.

So it’s good for the club that we all just get on and smile and happy clap and not complain whilst rooky Ben dismantles everything that had us flying high? This isn’t about Wael but as you’ve mentioned him, his circumstances changed and so did his actions. Good on him but if it wasn’t for those circumstances changing things would be a lot more worrying. It doesn’t change what went on before though with the pulling out of UWE, the non communication when it happened and for 2 years after. I haven’t changed my opinion of the way he conducted himself then and before we get all misty eyed about what a great owner he might turn out to be let’s see what actually happens on and off the pitch. Sticking with Garner isn’t going to play out well by the looks of all the evidence.
