We’ve got to see how it goes before we say great signing though. Don’t get me wrong I’m very excited about this but so many times in the past our best signings have been the underwhelming ones on the day. Every player starts with a clean slate and has to earn his right to be considered a great signing by playing well. If he can perform like he did against us a couple of years ago on a regular basis then he’ll be a bloody fantastic signing. Thanks for saving me the time of writing something similar 👍

But haven’t we signed too many defenders and midfielders and not enough strikers? It all seems to lack balance and it seems odd to send players out on loan who have only just signed, which I’m sure we must have to do otherwise we could play two different teams each Saturday plus have a full complement of subs! This is a worry but if a couple of midfielders were to leave and one striker to join then quickly the balance would look better. Until the window is shut we can’t say for sure. Fair point, I’m not hopeful we are looking for a striker, this guy has probably taken up what could possibly be left of the budget. You never know though I guess!

This guy is seriously good. When fit, he will be a first team regular and contributing massively. A player who wifi thrive in L1.
The squad is getting very large - surely some players need to go?

If Hiwula is announced tomorrow then I know this has all been a dream ... There still a chance of that one happening then...?

I'm pretty sure he is a free agent, but I can't see us paying the wages he will demand when we have picked up quite a few other big earners this summer and have plenty of quality in that area of the pitch.

I agree, but if nobody is creating a demand for him then that wage may quickly drop, as £2k a week may be half of £4k a week, but it’s still £100k a year and better than ending up a forgotten man... you never know!!

Assuming he can recapture his form of a few season ago a good signing. If he doesnt then an expensive substitute to have. Time will tell.
He can be competition in a few places so players will need to keep on top of their game. McCormick, barrett , jml, nicholson ,daly , upson , Westbrook. All get the extra pressure from this signing.

Clever Signing! We have experienced players in Ezhemer & Jakola in defense to guide the youngsters. We were lacking that leadership up top which I think this brings. I think he will be played as a second striker, not an attacking midfielder. We will see! Whichever way a great signing for us while weakening another team in our division at the same time! You’ve stumbled on our new strategy to ensure all the players are happy and we have plenty of options and ability on the pitch in each position. We’re going to make the shirts twice as big and put two players in each. Ezhemer is just the start, looking forward to seeing what WestCormick, Leahonda, and Barrolson get up to on a match day.

With the size of our squad, surely this is a master plan to win the EFL trophy!

I wonder whether BG will be tempted to go back to his 343 now we have some threat from the wingback areas and two proper #10s in the squad... __________Jaakkola ____Ehmer_Baldwin_Harries Hare___Grant___Zain__Tutonda __McCormick___Oztumer _________Hanlan I do like that line up but personally would like Nicholson instead of McCormick. What it did make me think was how many good players we have that are not in that XI. I reckon we could field a second XI that would be a very good league 1 or 2 outfit in their own right. Surely must be a few leaving. Otherwise Wael’s next purchase will be some extra land in Hortham Lane so there’s enough room for all the squad to train!

Great signing. He took us apart at home for Walsall. Best player in L1 that season. Went to away match just to see him and he didn't play; was that the game Danny pulled his hamstring?
The creative midfielder we need; must play him on the right side a bit like Mahrez?!!
Just hope he has no long term injury problems?
Now do we wish we could attend!
PS Probably our best signing so far although Hanlan and Tutonda have been magnificent.

One thing EO knows as of now is that he has a united fan base fully behind him and supportive based on what they’ve seen him do at other clubs at this same level. There is nothing like starting your time at a new set up knowing all the positive good wishes are behind you. He should thrive in this environment and it is a pity that we cannot be there to reinforce the positive vibes on a match day at present. After a stop start season in the championship last term I hope we’re able to help get him back on track, a talent as good as that deserves to be playing week in , week out and lighting up the division with his ability. Good luck to him may he enjoy this season ... because if he does so will we!

A marquee signing and credit to Wael for that, but I really don’t understand our transfer policy. It feels a bit like we got some players in early just as a basis to work from and then kept adding players who might be better, to the point where we might see some of the ones signed early sent out on loan because they are no longer good enough. Plus we have youngsters the owner wanted us to develop to sell on. We’re still short of an actual striker as well aren’t we because this guy is a midfielder? Hopefully it all works out but the thinking seems a bit muddled on the face of it. I think our recruitment this summer has been thought out and smart. I really like the fact that we've signed some highly rated young players like Grant, Westbrooke, Tutonda, Hanlan that are starting to establish themselves in the football league as well as some tried and tested experience in the form of Ehmer, Baldwin and now Oztumer. My only worry is that in this current economic environment with no fans, we've got to shift 5-6 players on in order to keep the budget down yet I'm not sure if we've left ourselves enough time with the transfer window closing in less than 24 hours. I also think Garner will have trouble keeping everyone happy with such a big squad and only so many spots in the first 11. A few of our players are under 24: Are there any provisions for Under 24 players under Squad Salary Cap? Clubs in both League One and League Two will agree on a fixed contract contribution amount on contracts of players under the age of 24. This amount will determine the amount contributed by Under 24 player to the overall cap. Example: If clubs in League One agree on a £50,000 per year contribution cap for Under 24 players then the contract value of any under 24 players earning more than £50,000 will be valued as £50,000 while calculating Squad Salary cap.
