That looks f*cking beautiful compared to empty stadiums on TV! Was absolutely magic, the silence before a chance, the chanting, I didn't even mind the smoking and alcohol-frie bier. Very interesting - please could you give us a bit more info as to how the event was managed? Temperature checks, compulsory masks, social distancing when queuing etc? I would guess the danger point would be using the toilets (although, that's always a danger at The Mem).

Away sides at the mem are currently using the bar behind the Thatchers End as a changing room. No wonder we are doing ok at home!

I can't see any reason at all why fans can't be allowed in if wearing masks and spaciously distanced, you can walk down the street with people passing close by without masks and you can go into shops where customers and staff brush passed, so why can't you sit or stand in a stand 1- 2metres apart with your mask on and sanitiser at all entrances. Surely it is safer to be in a stand with an open front than in a shop or bar where you are closed in. Rovers could get 4,000 in the ground with social distancing and open bars. I am sure we wouldn't behave like the idiots in Liverpool or Manchester partying in the streets. No reason why grounds can't be opened in this part of the world. Can't think of any reason at all. Let me in, Let me in. After all there has only been 43967 deaths to date, rising daily by 241 and increasing. Labour capitalist mayors want to increase that number unless they get more cash. Kill all the old un's in the stands and make way for younger fans at a cheaper rate You don’t have to go.

Very interesting - thank you. Love those floodlights - reminds me of the Subbuteo ones I used to have.

It seems bizarre that a small number of fans can watch a match on TV from an indoor hospitality suite at the stadium but not look out of the window at the match being played feet away from them or to be able to watch the match outside whilst very thinly spread around the stadium where it would be safer. It would be more consistent to ban all fans from watching at the stadium.

Crazy world we live in at the moment.

Something got to give how when ? Because no fans will eventually = no football ? Can’t see how some clubs can survive financially much longer ?

Masks in stadiums and sanitizers to be used at entrances. No claiming ‘medical exemptions’ and anyone refusing to wear their mask is ejected and banned. Don’t see why this can’t be achievable starting with 50% capacity

My worry is the government will give the green light at some stage for fans to re-enter stadiums but it will be at a level which will not help the clubs. Using Rovers for example if the government allow 25% capacity that will be taken by season ticket holders who have already paid, the club would lose money by having to have staff to manage the stadium with no additional match day revenue. It will only really become viable for us once pay on the day fans are allowed back in which is why I’d like a 50% capacity as a starting point (excluding prior test events).

Just to add the “worth” of home support to the team? How much is it worth to the team to get 3 points, an extra 2 points if drawing or an extra 1 if losing when the crowds starts pushing you on? Points make prizes? and the support that gives the team impetus must be worth something to factor? Generally, our fans in recent years do not have a go at the team or individual players at all except in very rare cases like Shrews away a few years ago, a certain non-jumping forward, etc. What is promotion worth to the club, even for 1 season? £5M? £10M, £20M, ....? Let’s say 100 points gets you promotion to make maths easy. So at £20M, a point is possibly worth £200K. How much could be attributed to fan support as opposed to the team, etc.? 5% if that? Then that would be worth £10K (home AND away games) per point. I am sure there are a lot of other factors that come into play in the background when trying to garner points but just an invisible factor to consider. It would be nice to poll players on what help they think the fan support provides to them individually and as a team? But such a poll would have to target long established players who have actually played in front of crowds (and no crowds)? Up The Noise UTG

Sometimes you have to play by the rules to be allowed to have things that you really want.

I don't think so. Sometimes you have to play by the rules to be allowed to have things that you really want. What if someone had a genuine medical exemption? Would you ban someone for having a disability? What kind of exemption? People are just abusing the current ‘medical exemption’ to swan around shops without a mask - not really caring that their own freedom is potentially risking others if they are unknowingly carrying the virus. There should be zero tolerance. An aunt of mine has COPD but manages to shop using a mask, any small discomfort is a far better prospect for her than actually getting Covid. If you have a respiratory condition why on earth would you want to enter a busy football ground? If it’s anxiety then I don’t see why wearing a mask would make matters worse, surely the thought of everyone looking at a ‘non mask wearer’ would invoke far more anxiety and paranoia? I’d advise anyone with a medical condition that makes them feel unable to wear a mask to stay away and use iFollow.

But seriously I presume it was to stop children by themselves. Is that right? UTG!
