Jaakkola 7 Couple of decent saves. Sometimes his longer range kicking was a bit awry.
Ehmer 8 his best performance yet in my opinion. made interceptions when it counted and didn't give away the cheap fouls that some might expect of him. Baldwin 6.5 decent Harries 6.5 same as Baldwin.
Hare 6 both full backs were quiet but solid. Grant 5.5 I'm still unconvinced. I can always find positives for the other two CMs but not so often for Grant. I don't think he is bad, just doesn't have the same inflence as some that have gone before in the same position. Westbrooke 6.5 His technical ability will always be an asset, even if it primarily from set piece delivery. McCormick 7 Clearly up for this game but did fade which has been seen in other games too. Tutonda 5.5 Same as Hare, quiet going forward and pretty solid in defense. Lost half a point for a foul throw which is inexcusable.
Daly 8 When playing against teams that play from the back he is invaluable. The turnovers created as a result of his pressing is great for the team. Hanlan 7.5 Another solid performance and a really brave header for the winning goal. Great out ball.
Subs: Nicholson 7 Both Nicholson and Oztumer helped solidify the lead by giving Shrewsbury a threat to think about. Oztumer 7 There was enough from these two to think their link up will be a real asset in the future. Upson NOLE
Ref 7 Pretty reasonable. Lots of fouls but not his fault. Shrewsbury 8 I think they were good and will be very frustrated with no points. A similar team to us in many ways but had a much more dangerous cutting edge compared with us. On the basis of tonight a mid table finish at least.
All in all a strange game. Wasn't quite as backs-against-the-wall as Sunderland but defintely lucky to get all three points. Shrewsbury were good and broke up our attacks with fouls to prevent any fluency. Hard to rate individuals as noone had a shocker but we didn;t really deserve the win.

Daly 7 great effort Hanlan 7.5 deserved his goal, so consistent so far.
Subs: Nicholson 6.5 Oztumer 7 Upson -
Ref 8 very good, perhaps missed booking or two for Shrews. Shrewsbury 6.5

Jaakkola 7.5 Did everything well tonight when called upon. One heart in mouth moment when he chose to punch a ball that was easier to catch. For me the best keeper I have seen in a rovers shirt.
Ehmer 7.5 had his best game for rovers for me tonight. Positional play and tackling was spot on. No needless fouls conceded. Limited in possession but I just don’t think that’s his game. Great goal line clearance also. Baldwin 7 another accomplished performance and for me fast becoming our most important centre back. Marshalled the defence well. Did get caught out in behind on a couple of occasions. Harries 7 played well up against udoh who looked a lively player. Clearly very competent on the ball and I would like to see him carry the ball into midfield a bit more instead of going long.
Hare 6.5 defensively good. Still don’t think he gets forward enough at the moment into positions where he can use his fantastic crossing ability. At times tonight I could see midfielders and forwards pick up the ball and turn out to the right only to have him sat to deep and not offering any width or out ball. Grant 7.5 I see grant is deciding opinion at the moment. Tonight I thought he played very well. He is not the warrior type holding midfielder but I thought he slowed shrews attacks down and broke up a lot of their play. Picked out some nice passes also. Maybe he holds on to the ball to long at times and doesn’t seem aware of opponents around him when he is in possession. but he is still young and I think showing a lot of potential if he can improve that part of his game Westbrooke 7 always wanted the ball and made some nice passes. Set piece delivery was good for goal but also some wasteful ones. Showed some nice close control but would like to see him beat his man and drive forward. McCormick 6.5 improved display from Saturday. Worked his socks off closing down space and opponents when the were in possession. Didn’t offer much in an attacking sense. Tutonda 6.5 unlucky not to score and offered more going forward than Saturday. Really needs to work on his throw ins and did get caught to high up the pitch when there was a turnover in possession on a couple of occasions although does recover his position quickly
Daly 6.5 hard working performance and didn’t get the shrews centre half’s a moments rest. Showed a good turn of pace at times. Wasn’t his night in the box tonight but I think that was more down to a lack of service. Hanlan 7.5 MOTM another goal and great that it was from open play. Brave header to get his goal. Work rate was also good and as with Daly didn’t give the shrews centre half a a moments rest. Got the ball caught under his feet a few times and really should of squared to Nicholson when he went through one on one. Confidence looks to be growing each game and could potentially become our next star number 9
Subs: Nicholson 7 workman like performance and carried on where Daly left off. Has great control and dribbling ability and looks to be chomping at the bit to get his chance in the starting lineup Oztumer 7.5 great 20 minute performance. Played some great through balls and looks great on the ball when under pressure. Really looking forward to him starting games. Vision, creativity and dribbling ability. Upson NOLE
Ref 6 quick to blow his whistle and still missed a few obvious fouls for both sides. Let us take our time with restarts from throw-ins, free kicks and goal kicks. Shrewsbury 6. Tidy in the middle of the pitch and played some nice quick one touch passing. First and final third let them down.

Results in and Brandon Hanlan was Man of the Match with a score of 7.59.
This was Hanlan's 3rd MotM in just seven league games. Only Jonson Clarke-Harris (5) and Jack Bonham (4) had more in their first seven league games.
Joe Lumley also had three in his first seven league games while Matty Taylor, Dave Martin, James Clarke, Rory Gaffney, Hiram Boateng, Ryan Sweeney, Stefan Payne, Jayden Mitchell-Lawson and Jamal Blackman all had two in seven.
Sam Nicholson and Erhun Oztumer's equal scores of 6.44 were the highest by a substitute this season. Only James Daly (6.54) in the Sunderland home game last season has scored higher as a substitute under Ben Garner.
Starting XI average was 6.84
