Jaakkola 6.5
Ehmer 7 Baldwin 7 Harries 5.5 too shaky for me - get Koiki or Kilgour in here.
Hare 6 Grant 6 Westbrooke 7 shame he didn't score McCormick 6 Tutonda 7.5 one howler but played very well
Daly 6.5 Hanlan 7
Subs: Oztumer 5.5 couldn't get into it Nicholson
Ref 7 Hull 7
Again for me BG left it too late to bring subs on. Hull brought on 3 and they helped change the game. Not sure Hull deserved to win that. You can't just try to hold on to a 1-0 v better teams like Hull.

Jaakkola 6 not much to do
Ehmer 7 best of the back 3 Baldwin 6 silly booking and awful pass in last minute Harries 5.5 miskicks it far too often and beat for pace lots
Hare 6 no good deliveries today Grant 5.5 looked off the pace Westbrooke 5 gave the ball away more than I’ve ever seen McCormick 6 anonymous Tutonda 7 tried to make things happen
Daly 7 great pressing and well taken finish Hanlan 7.5 motm worked so hard off complete scraps
Subs: Oztumer 4 offered nothing at all Nicholson na came on too late

Jaakkola - 6. Didn't have much to do and nothing he could do for any of the goals
Ehmer - 6.5. Best of the back 3 but as the most senior defender probably needs to take more responsibility for the sloppy goals we conceded and the lack of organisation (not the third obviously). Baldwin - 6. Struggled a bit defensively and had a shocker for the third (game was already gone at that point so didn't really prove to be that costly, but still...) Harries - 6. Struggled too and didn't seem to offer Tutonda much support. Sliced another couple of near post clearances much like the one against Burton - maybe needs to learn how to use his right foot too!
Hare - 6. Tough night for Hare, under pressure defensively and zero opportunity to get forward. Only counted one cross all night. Grant - 5. Started really well and was great to see him breaking up play high up the pitch for our goal. However after the first 15 mins or so he sat too deep and the game passed him by as we sat back allowing Hull the lions share of possession. Doesn't offer much in possession to be honest, still underwhelming for me. Needs to play ten yards higher up to influence the game. Westbrooke - 5. Started brightly and was looking sharp in possession. However much like Grant, sat too deep and didn't really influence the game. Looks such a tidy player but I fear he's a bit of a luxury against the better sides in this division. Should have scored just before half time but a weak shot straight to the keeper. McCormick - 5. Anonymous. Can't fault his attitude or application but just a passenger in this game. Tutonda - 6. Made made some good tackles and interceptions in the first half but they did their homework on him and much like Hare they kept him quiet going forward for most of the game. Out of position for the goal but again I think we need to get better at organising back there - our back 3 should be screaming at him to get out, instead he was tucked in AND we still surrendered a free header!! Their right side were dangerous and I don't think Tutonda got enough support, at times he was getting overwhelmed but we didn't seem to react.
Daly - 7. Took his goal so well and again much like the Burton goal it's great to see our strikers force and/or anticipate a mistake. The sorts of goals I expected Reilly to be scoring for us. Zero service for the rest of the game, fed off scraps but worked hard. Hanlan - 6. Worked hard but absolutely zero service. Not sure if he's fully fit actually, but with no other options in the squad I fear he will not be given a rest if needed.
Subs*: Oztumer - looked like a man who hasn't played much first team football over the last 12 months. Needs to get some match fitness. Nicholson - not long enough
* IMO again BG took far too long to react and make substitutions. We could all see that a goal was coming and we were sat too deep, but we didn't seem to make any adjustments and we were crying out for fresh legs. Needs to improve the game management and not be scared to make changes. Hull made a triple change and that paid dividends; not saying he needs to make a triple change at half time but he needs to be a lot braver with his in game management. Hopefully this will come with time...
Ref - 8. Actually thought he had a decent game. Hull - 8. Not spectacular but dominated the second half and even though they didn't create a lot they still scored 3! Did a professional job on us and well organised. Honeyman and their right back in particular looked very good last night.

Jaakkola 6.5 a decent game considering the defence in front of him ! Ehmer 6 battled gamely and the best of the back three. Baldwin 5 an awful error late on and generally unconvincing. Harries 5 more slices than in my morning Hovis, time for Alfie to return.! Hare 6 kept in check and lacked his usual energy. Grant 6 decent but an early booking curbed his game somewhat. Westbrooke 6.5 a chance spurned just before half time but overall a good display McCormick 6 bags of energy but little end product. Tutonda 6 like the curates egg, good in parts. Daly 7.5 this boy is a natural finisher and should always be one of the first names on the team sheet, if he carries on like this the big fish will be circling. Hanlan 6 he didnt look fit to me but did set up a chance for Westbrook which would have changed the match. Subs: Oztumer 5 made no difference. Nicholson 5 same as Oztumer. Ref 7 good. Hull 7.5 They did their homework on us and the triple substitution worked a treat, its being pro-active, something Garner hasnt mastered yet. Our performance was far from disastrous and in the first half we had several periods of good play but we got sussed out by a street-wise and more experience team. We'll dust ourselves down and go again on Saturday. (where have I heard that before lol !!)

Jaakkola 7.5 done absolutely nothing wrong.
Ehmer 7 one def great clearing header. Baldwin 5 got a mistake in him. Harries 6.5 worked well with Tutonga but got a sliced mistake in him.
Hare 6.5 largely nullified, well done Hull. Grant 7 nice interceptions. Westbrooke 7.5 nice through balls and some nice set pieces, should have scored on 45. McCormick 6.5 flit in and out of game. Tutonda 7.5 liked the timing of his tackles and made it look like more time on ball, well played but hull def gave him a tough game.
Daly 8 m o m for a well hit goal and took his opportunity ruthlessly. Ran tirelessly. Hanlan 7 worked hard just wasn't his night.
Subs: Oztumer 5 unimpressive and got himself booked which was taking one for the team.. Nicholson nole.
Ref 8.5 got everything spot on and even the card issuing was proportional and correct....from Mr Huxtable!? Never thought would say that! Hull 8 showed their class in the end and deserved their win. Physically strong and in depth...when they stepped up, they made us run a bit harder and it felt like they had more players on the pitch. A fair result.
Well done us for competing with a championship side this year and premier a few years before.
But, they were always going to be favourites.
An entertaining match with quality shown from both sides, but when they worked themselves through the gears, we couldn't keep up..

Results in and Max Ehmer was Man of the Match with a score of 6.62. The rating for Hull City was higher than any opposition rating this season or last and the highest since the 7.7 given to Luton Town towards the end of the 18/19 season, 49 league games ago. This was Brett Huxtable's 12th appearance in these threads and he was easily on course for his best ever rating if it wasn't for seanclevedongas's mark of 0. As it was, this was still his second best rating. I previously catalogued his efforts in this post from the Doncaster game last season: LinkWe're on a good run of referee ratings at the moment in general. The average over the last five league games has been 6.40 (and would be 6.48 if not for the 0 rating). This is the 4th best run ever in these threads. The best five-game run was a 6.56 average that was also under Garner: the last five games of last season in the Blackpool (6.5), Sunderland (7.6), Shrewsbury (4.2), Southend (7.2), Sunderland (7.4) sequence. The other top three runs came back to back in a six game sequence in 2018/19 that went: Portsmouth (7.3), Sunderland (7.0), Blackpool (7.8), Scunthorpe (4.3), Gillingham (5.7), Charlton (7.5) to give runs of 6.43 and 6.46. Jaakkola 6.3 Ehmer 6.6
Baldwin 5.8 Harries 5.4 Hare 5.5 Grant 5.2 Westbrooke 6.1 McCormick 5.3 Tutonda 6.0 Daly 6.3 Hanlan 6.4 Subs: Oztumer 4.7 Nicholson 4.0 Ref 6.6 Hull 7.2
