Kilgour 5 Looked very uncomfortable with Garner style of play, improved towards the end but at fault for their first goal

Hare 5 Only got involved second half, crossing has gone to pot and doesn't take his man on anymore
Grant 7 Pretty decent support to Westy in midfield
Westbrooke 8.5 I thought he was outstanding tonight everything came through him, corners could improve though

Jaakkola 7 Great save to push one onto the post. Nothing he could do for the goals.

Kilgour 6 A decent return to the XI. Didn't waste the ball and made some good challenges. His big mistake was obviously diving in for the first goal, otherwise he was my pick of the defenders - although probably because all of P'boro's threat was down their left he had the most visible workload.
Ehmer 6 Some good clearing headers and marshalled JCH well. Remember anything JCH did in the game?
Harries 6 Same as Ehmer. Didn't have a huge amount to defend on our left.

Hare 4 His delivery is usually exceptional but was exceptionally poor tonight. Had plenty of crossing opportunities too. Defensively terrified of Dembele (as were the entire team). IMO this left Kilgour exposed and gave his teammate a lot more to do. Just a really bad night for a player I otherwise rate.
Grant 7.5 MoM. Much, much, much better from him this game. Maybe creating a thread about a player does have some mystical positive effect! Broke up the play well and played some nice passes. Frustratingly, he sometimes turned a player really well but then played sideways or backwards when he had created space to run into!
Westbrooke 6.5 Still think he is our most technically gifted player and played further forward tonight whihch was positive. But occassionally looked lost in the final third. Not sure if it was lack of options or lack of ambition.
Nicholson 6 Had a good chance early on that was well blocked. Otherwise a tired performance. Did have some nice link up play with Westbrooke at times.
Tutonda 5 Didn't really get into a flow going forward. Didn't have a huge amount to defend on the left.

Daly 6 Passenger but I don't think that was his fault. He had no service and the P'boro defenders didn't give him a chance to harrass them.
Hanlan 5.5 The longer balls up to him didn't stick to him like they usually do. Had a battle with their centre back which he probably lost even if there were a few fouls against him that were not given.

Subs: Koiki 6 Looked bright going forward when he came on without having much influence. Couldn't have done much better with the cross slapped into him!
Oztumer 5.5 Looked like he might make an impact then went missing.
Mitchell-Lawson 5 Didn't offer anything.

Ref 6.5 Didn't drop any clangers. His positioning was awful though! It's not coincidence if you keep getting hit by the ball and players are shouting at you to get out the way!
Peterborough 7 Two high quality finishes to win the game. Dembele is better than League 1 but all their threat was from him whether it's drawing defenders away for others to exploit or beating them himself. Our players were petrified of him!! We didn't test their defence enough which is their weakness as they are obviously a top attacking force.

Before the game there was an expectation of a hammering. This wasn't that. The 2 goals were highlight reel stuff (even if the closing down could have been better). I don't think Rovers were bad. They lacked the cutting edge threat to punish P'boro. Everyone will be frustrated by playing across the back 3 and not going anywhere: it is one of those things that is considered patient and looking after the ball when teams are on top but without an attacking threat it does look pointless. The most frustrating thing for me is we seem to start both halves really positively and look good but then fade and hand inititive to the opposition. So this team can perform, be entertaining, and most importantly threaten the other teams goal! But they are not doing it for long enough in each game. Whether it is because the team is young, the tactics are too soft and concerned with not losing possession, or the players just haven't clicked yet I have no idea at the moment.

Jaakkola 5 Beaten twice by superbly placed shots, had little else to do.
