For all that we looked like we dominated in the first half, we only had 2 shots on target the whole game and therein lies our problem for me, roll on round 2 though..

Tale of two halves, first half performance was really good. Created chances, passed the ball well and looked strong in defence. Scored two well earned goals to give us a deserved lead. Hanlan, Koiki, Oztumer all impressed.
Second half it seemed to fall apart, we struggled to control the game or keep possession as we had in the first half. All the chances fell to Walsall, we made it hard for ourselves.
Anyway, into the hat for the second round so that’s a positive. Can never complain too much with an away win.

They had 15 shots to our 6, and 6 on target to our 2! BG really needs to look at the stats and our second half performance(s) Edit - ...and 10 corners to our 4 |

Good win but still taking it easy after taking the lead every week. It’s costing us a lot of points in the league and nearly cost us again today. Overall good win though with Oztumer looking lively in the middle. UTG

We deserved that win and Oztumer shows that experience counts in those situatons.
Our young team and especially those in midfield lack experience and leadership, especially once Upson went off because one to many tricks/flicks played us in to trouble.
I thought Hanlon played well but needed a strike partner to help out up front and with Oztumer behind them we would have much more options and would have finished the game off a lot quicker.

Yes I hoped the formation tweak may help in that department but no joy. Players or managers instructions to blame for sitting back on a lead you reckon? |
