Does anyone think it’s strange that TW has been given the caretaker role, the man hasn’t managed since DC was a nippy winger instead of giving Hargreaves/Mansell a crack. This leads me to one conclusion that they already have someone in line to take over, otherwise you’d have given those two a go to prove themselves as had happend before. I see John Terry mentioned before could be a shout, has been serving his apprenticeship well at Villa and would fit with our unofficial link with Chelsea. Stranger things have happend

Maybe he had to go as we're about to be partly taken over by a consortium, get the stadium at the fruit market and they want to bring in their own manager 😁

Does Shane get a say in it? Remember him? ZFC,SAABGAS,JAGGAS,etc etc. Is he still on here? I bloody hope not.

I think it's unlikely we'll be paying compensation for an in work manager like Flynn. We were making a loss before the pandemic and now we'll be paying off Garner's contract.

One thing wael has given Garner was time. Gave him 18 games last year to influence the style of play and 15 games including cup games this year to show we were competing. That’s 30+ games and in that time he only won 6. I think he had more time than any other manager.

I feel whoever we get he needs to be a Manager and a Coach.

Depends on the club's current philosophy. If it is just to remain in the division settle for mid table and sell for profit then buckle could be the guy. Can't see the likes of cook coming in to a club that may have no intention of challenging for promotion over the next few seasons.

Wael is building a club philosophy of having young players and improving them to earn cash and build good teams. The new manager will have to buy into that and wont be able to sign lots of experienced high earning players. However a fair few managers this season have commented on how they expect rovers to be up there this season based on the squad of players they have. So it's a job plenty will want. Let's face it without being disrespectful to BG the new man wont have to win many matches before April fools to improve on Ben's record. I guess like the manager that can be binned if it's not working, let's just hope whoever gets the job explains to Wael you need a mix of experience and youth. Not when there are a dozen or so players on 2 or 3 year deals

Anyone else woken up this morning feeling extremely excited about what’s coming up? I was one of the fans who where as others weren’t keen when BG got the job I was very positive and welcomed his appointment (sorry guys 🙁) However even I kinda lost faith in him as this season went on. The thing that excites me this morning and probably the reason your excited too is that where as in the past a manager has been sacked even though the manager made mistakes you looked at the squad and thought “this is going to need a clear out with the squad” however IMO this is one of the best squads we have had for awhile and while we haven’t from the games I’ve seen had a complete 90 minutes performance yet even the most critical fans of BG must be able to admit that there are signs in games that we can get the ball down and look excellent in the final third albeit sadly not enough times during games. I think this team can still play a Covenrty City style by getting the ball down and playing but I think if the truth was known BG wanted them to play a similer style but with certain Premier league tweaks which was made the player complicated. That’s why I’m hoping that if Paul Cook is one of our targets he might have been watching us yesterday and be thinking that the First half was poor but parts of second half there were the signs that this squad is good enough as you fans could see from the goal we scored which is what we need to see more often and thought “I could work with this guys no problem”. Unless your excited because you just nabbed a PS5 on pre-order!! 😗😗

That’s exactly it oasis, I don’t think this squad is a problem we can go places with it. We might need a bit more balance up top in January and a bit more experience bought in (I think the youth idea is sound but it has been overdone a bit). However a decent manager should be able to hit the ground running.

I think that someone posted on here that maybe its a token appointment as they plan to have someone in fairly quickly and I think that could be the case. If they were looking at an internal appointment I think that person would have been made caretaker yesterday with the usual “will be assisted by so and so” but because its been given to TW I think they may have already got the person they want in mind and probably already had a quiet chat in the past 7 days. Like I posted earlier, 24 hours after GC had that famous post much intetview they had already spoken to and been knocked back by Nathan Jones. My guess is that the person they want will have been contacted by the end of today and if he says thanks but no thanks then we will get the usual looking at applications and narrowing it down to a shortlist.
