thanyou mate, I couldn't listen to more than 15 minutes though, he keeps smacking his chops together and that drives me bonkers, there is a certain Radio Bristol presenter that does this as well, I'm afraid for this reason he can not get the job!

Not disappointed with this in that I think he will be a better fit with Wael and Starnes than Cook or Flynn would have been. The stuff I’ve read about Tisdale suggests he wants to play football in a fair and attractive manner and he won’t instruct his teams to waste time even when narrowly winning a tough fixture, should make for a more exciting and nerve wracking ride! If he can get Garner’s cry babies to stop begging for reds then that would start endearing me to him. Got no time for that nonsense. Win like a man on your own merits.

All the best if it is, not my first choice, I'd have gone for Cook all day long as he tasted success in league one and managed in championship, but if PT can get us winning then happy to be proved wrong. I would like to know if we at least approached Cook. I don’t mind if the answer was “no way” as long as we at least tried! Don't think the new manager would want to start his career here with everybody knowing he wasn't the first choice. If it doesn't get out in the media, I think it's best to keep information like this out of the public domain.

And in true gaschat fashion the new manager is already being criticised before he's even been announced. ...and it’s got to 6 pages and counting! UTG!

Hope not this is too soon to appoint a new manager we really need to see who is the best out there never mind going for the first person to pop up. If he is the right man for the job good but look at all the options first. Then appoint

Complete Joke-Div 2 here we come ,then onto ths Conference-Happy Days You were happy to go down with Garner. Long term project you said. I’m not sure you’re actually a gashead. So whatever you say, the opposite is good with me. Tisdale for Rovers!

You don’t like Tisdale I think we all get it You forgot to mention that that pre match team talk you refer to on the negative produced a result where Exeter City beat Leeds united. To be honest I don't dislike Tisdale. I think he's got a lot about him and has achieved some good things. I wouldn't hate it if he was appointed but he's not my preference plus recommendations from Pirate are clearly jinxed so it would obviously end in disaster. Not to mention, by his own admission, the man taught Paul Buckle everything he knows.Probably not everything, Buckle was a complete plonker. Tisdale is articulate, has longevity which tells me he is hugely respected and people speak highly of him so to compare him to Buckle in his characteristics is probably a bit unfair. UTG!

[br Not digging you personally out here, but people wanted Michael Flynn, hasn’t exactly made Newport into a league one club the years he’s been there, Michael duff hasn’t done anything yet with Cheltenham, Paul cook was always unrealistic so if we start holding tisdale against those expectations then it’s more than harsh. I can definitely see why we’ve gone for him, promotions, developed players, experience, and his style of football, on paper he is perfect. Now it’s time for us all if he is appointed to get behind him and the team. UTG Yes he achieved more at Exeter than Gerry Francis did and he turned out alright. Thing is signing managers is the same as players in that just because they are perhaps successful elsewhere or not successful elsewhere it doesn’t mean they’re a good signing or a bad signing. Every player we sign and every manager we sign starts with a clean slate and they only become good or bad signings based on what they achieve at the club. PT is on P 0 W 0 D 0 L 0. Have we even signed him ? Seems like too much sense is getting spoken here, completely agree, everyone has there favourites or people they’d prefer and to be honest I will back any manager that comes in, whether he was my first choice or not I will treat him/her as the only choice once they are appointed. Utg

Your devotion to Rovers is so strong as always I’m not going to stand around and clap anyone who takes us back to league two. Some on here would be perfectly happy to because they think that’s what being a supporter is all about: being perfectly happy however badly run the club is being. I’ve stopped classing myself as a supporter as a result. I’m a follower, I want us to win and my support of the manager is conditional on the job he is doing. As always other ways of associating yourself with the club are available.... So this for me is a very unambitous signing, but Tisdale has at least some promotions to his name so it’s not as rank bad as Garner and he can’t ruin a winning team so that’s a decent start in and of itself. Eh? Have I missed the last 6 months and woken up and we’ve been relegated? Seriously get some perspective, he’s not been appointed and you’re justifying your criticism by predicting something that’s not happened. I wouldn’t be happy and I suspect no one else on here would be either at relegation And everyone wants what you want, to win football matches. And as for being an unambitious signing, at the moment it’s no kind of signing because he hasn’t signed. It’s just forum talk, it may or may not happen. UTG!

I think this shows progress. We hadn’t planned to get rid of Garner, it was a reactionary thing to a terrible performance, but we managed to react to it rapidly because we knew who we wanted, and we’ve gone out and got them. When was the last time we were this quick with an appointment that wasn’t an anointment from within? 2020 Bristol Rovers, long live the new board! Guess what we don't know (and maybe never will) is just how long discussions had been going on "off the record" along the line of thought that it was all going pear shaped on the pitch with BG and then the Fleetwood game just crystallized them into action. This - at the end of the day Wael & MS are businessmen, and won’t be waiting to be taken by surprise, or be acting on the hoof, or being reactive rather than proactive. There would have been some kind of succession planning in the event that Garner didn’t work out and they doubtless would’ve had a list of potential candidates who fit their bill in mind for that eventuality. That’s why events appear to be moving quickly, if indeed they are, not because they’re making a panic move to choose the first manager that comes along . . .
