Better than that , 8 goals in 20 games in all competitions would suggest he’s had a flying start to his Rovers Career. Also suggestions that his conversation rate is poor are off the mark in my opinion. Until a few weeks ago we created very little and until yesterday I can’t remember him squandering many chances and he still got a goal even though he missed a pen and a sitter. The blokes been class for us, our next top scorer has 3 if hanlan only had three we’d most likely be bottom of the league now. Some people on here amaze me they really do. I like him. He can improve. He's a good player but do think we need someone else up with him at the moment sam. What do you think?? Well I like the 4231 formation , he’s got Nicholson , otzumer and Westbrooke / Mc Cormick playing behind/ around him so he’s got support. Could have had a hat trick yesterday so he has got support now we’ve moved from the 3-5-2. We do need to bring another striker in though because the other two are either too young or probably not good enough if Hanlan gets injured and they’ve had injury problems themselves.

I will be glad to see James Daley back , I thought before his injury he was forming a good partnership with Hanlan.Daley’s non stop running & ability to ghost into the penalty area was causing opponents plenty of problems, great to hear he’s back in training.

It was two poor teams each with a couple of good players. I thought the best player we had on the day was Kilgour. I thought Upson was pretty slow and dreadful. Hanlon was 4th choice at Gillingham and yesterday showed us why. As for our "Captain", well not very good. Looking back at when these players were signed , it all looked promising and there were lots of oo's and ahh's, but the reality is a lot of them are pretty poor for this level. 4th choice at Gillingham? He played 35 league games there last season and 39 the season before. Think he has been an excellent signing with plenty more to come from him.

I’m not sure about the criticism of Brandon Hanlon, at least the guy has found the back of the net unlike Tom Nichols. He’s scoring at a rate of around one in three for us and puts himself about. Couldn’t agree more, guys putting the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis, if he scores too many more he’ll be off in January!! All of a sudden Alfie is now back in favour, six weeks ago he needed loaning out, perspective is needed by some. Hanlon is doing very well.

A lot will depend on if Grant is back in the team Feel a lot more confident of not being bypassed through midfield with him playing. I do rate Grant, but I think losing him, together with Westbrooke and Oztumer was the key to the loss at MK Dons. As if we had just one of Westbrooke or Oztumer available, we could have played McCormick alongside Upson instead of Hargreaves - as a defensive central midfield in a 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 Although, yes I know it was a poor game all round anyway, and very frustrating to watch as players such as Cameron did not grasp the opportunity they were given. I feel McCormick is a much more adaptable player than any of the others I have mentioned. He is a quality player with a big furture ahead of him - hopefully with us. He has the ability to play more defensively when required, and I think Upson will benefit from that today. I would certainly think McCormick further back will be more effective there than Ehrun or Zain. UTG! If playing 4-2-3-1 then having grant allows upson to not carry the burden of solely defending. This is the folly of letting ogogo leave / getting another defensive midfielder. It would seem most likely grant would miss some games and there was no back up. Hargreaves is more like a McCormick back up and liddle may end up a upson back up. The team plays better moving forward with westbrooke or oztumer playing . I think it's a bit of a risk playing both . Unless either you are throwing caution to the wind and have to score to get back into a game or you already have a comfortable lead. It would be good if McCormick did sign a deal with rovers he is one of the best loan players to have arrived in a long time. I have concerns rovers may get offers for nicholson this january.

Who else have we got to take pens as Leahy's last pen was also a shocker?

If BG had remained in charge he could have well been loaned out this January and left like Rollin did next summer, I can never understand his approach with Kilgour.

Think you’ll find Hanlan has only scored 3 league goals from open play. In how many appearances? Of those appearances how many minutes played? How long did it take "our most naturally gifted player" to reach the same tally?
