A little (completely off topic) bit of info about seeds.... Don't buy them, just get them out of your fruit and veg, dry em, and plant them.... You can grow jalepenos from seeds recovered from jarred chillies.... Don't know about jarred chili's, but your point us spot-on Greg's. However if you want to try new varieties I highly recommend this provider. www.realseeds.co.uk/No hybrids here and they send you the seeds they have grown or from known and very specific growers in the UK. Growing chillies from jars I shall prove possible, its getting close to the time for germination in the UK for chillies, maybe a month away Max....

I used them last year for some salad varieties. Sadly the toms got the blight Oh and a winter squash which was more like a melon really. Very tasty 🍉

Changes to the UK’s cross-border value added tax rules that coincided with Britain’s departure from the EU single market at the start of the year have created “chaos” for direct mail orders, resulting in refusals to trade, delayed orders and opportunities for fraud.
On January 1 the UK implemented a change in the rules for foreign mail-order sellers, insisting they register for UK VAT for any items sold to UK customers, collect the correct sales tax on behalf of the government and pay the money to HM Revenue & Customs.
The changes were not directly linked to Brexit because the UK could have applied its existing rules for non-EU mail orders, which stipulate that VAT is added as goods enter the UK. But officials believed they did not have the capacity to police such a move so decided to force all foreign sellers to register for UK VAT if they want to sell to British consumers.
Winning ! 🇬🇧

Some claim that being out of the EU made no difference to our licensing and using anti-Covid vaccines. I think we all know the real story though, don’t we? As a result, France hasn’t even managed to vaccinate 500 people as of this morning, whereas we (GB) have managed into the 100,000’s. There’s also reports that the EUhas vastly under-ordered vaccine, and has followed extremely hampering rules whereby they have to reserve a proportion of their ordering for a vaccine which is still several months away from being ready. Oh, how I wish we were still in the EU. I would also have loved our country to be on the hook for several billion quid towards the EU Covid recovery fund. Just imagine, we might even have got about 10% of that given back to us. Bargain! Over 60% of the French (according to ipsos morí) don’t want to be vaccinated so it’s not just a simple case of “low numbers == no vaccines”

He’s just fishing for a bite because he can’t be bothered to educate himself and is trying to save face.

Hopes of a flurry of post-Brexit trade deals were dashed this week after the Australian government rejected a UK offer that included visa-free work and travel between the two countries.
Trade minister Simon Birmingham said full free movement would not be accepted because it could cause an exodus of highly trained workers to the UK and an influx of unskilled British workers to Sydney and Melbourne.
Last year, ministers in New Zealand voiced similar fears of a brain drain.
Australian points-based system Brexit advocates frequently referenced Australia’s points-based system in the referendum and the subsequent elections that followed.
Last September, international trade secretary Liz Truss, on a visit to Australia, announced that a plan to allow British citizens to live and work in the country visa-free could be just months away.
She said: “We’ve been clear on the fact we want to adopt the Australian-based points system in terms of our new immigration system as we leave the European Union… our two countries have a special link and a historic relationship, and it’s certainly something that we will be looking at as part of our free-trade negotiations.”
But even then, Australia’s prime minister Scott Morrison, said the visa-free arrangement with New Zealand was not something that would be extended to other countries.

The same rules will be coming into effect in the EU between EU member states too as of July 1st. Not supporting it though, I've lost 25% of my online business overnight. It's a stupid new rule that doesn't benefit anyone other than government pockets.

That's a bit of a reversal, I thought the idea originally was that chasing vat between nations was to complicated and time consuming. Ah well

Im not a bleeding horse and I'm not letting you put a saddle on my back. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Very interesting article in the Telegraph today about what an absolute balls up the EU have made over procuring and ordering the vaccine. The Germans have admitted they didn't go it alone to promote EU solidarity. The French have contributed to the cock up by earlier insisting that the EU bought 300 million doses of a French manufactured vaccine. Guess what? The vaccine has run into difficulties and won't be fit for purpose for some time. Even the BBC, on the 10pm news has just broadcast that GB has vaccinated more people than the rest of Europe combined. So don't try and tell people our leaving the EU had no affect on us getting on with our immunisation programme. You just make yourself look stupid.

You’re still unable to show evidence of your claims, OldGas. Show me the law and regulation where the UK approved the Pfizer vaccine under UK law, which was faster due to Brexit. Only been a month now that you’ve been dodging the topic and disagreeing with the Chief Executive of the MHRA. You know best. Will you finally show us all this time?

More importantly Oldgas not having to charge UK VAT for goods and services when sold within the EU was a huge benefit to marketability and to net profit margins, I can assure you.

VAT isn't my speciality (Work pay someone else for that) but correct me if I am wrong. does it make much difference within the EU? it's just the place of collection and would be accounted for on EC sales lists?
obviously if people outside the EU are selling in and need to register there as they need to do in the UK 1) it is a pain for sure and 2) surely as a BREXIT win we would not introduce this as a prohibitive tax although I understand why the Govt./HMRC want to collect more tax

I don't know what's changed, perhaps they have resolved this somehow.
