Going to Italy back end of November so will see how it goes.!! Currently on holiday in France, going back again in the New Year, hoping again around Easter. All by car. Be an interesting comparison between pre Brexit, now, with the 'visa' and then with the recognition technology. It's probably okay, but the faff getting set up will be time-consuming. Also, my son can't move and is sat at the rear in our WAV. The facial recognition stuff might be flawed here depending on how it works in practice. It's bad enough with just a visual check by the Border staff. I can't believe they haven't made provision for folk who have a disability, least our boy is mobile.

On at least one occasion they've had to come out of their booth to visually ID him.

Lots in the papers about Starmer going to Germany and resetting things with them. A 6 month timescale apparently.
Still refusal on the free movement of under 30s, could be an open secret or otherwise what have we got to woo them other than some defence and security cooperation?

I don't get Starmer, yesterday in the rose garden he tried to come over all macho "I won't hesitate in making the tough decisions.....",now we can all see that rejoining the Single Market is the right thing to do,it would increase the flow of inward investment and boost the economy ( labours key objective) yet its a too difficult political decision to make. Sadly would rather hammer folk with increased tax for his so say black hole ratherthan do the right thing .

"The two leaders hope to sign a treaty, covering areas including defence, energy security, science and technology, by early next year." www.bbc.com/news/articles/cvg3pxz4334oThis would be a bilateral agreement rather than an EU wide one. Defence is an interesting one as there is very little wriggle room and we've already got a reliance on German companies with at least two big army contracts.

I'm sure he believes it and protests too much when he talks about a reset but of course no rejoining.

In all but name....maybe.

I'm with O2,no roaming charges. My contract has remained in place from before as it just rolled over. Not the case for everyone despite the reassurance at the time. Small beer in the grand scheme of things, but symbolic.

Big mistake to stick to Tory fiscal rules ,as growth is the critical objective I would have hoped that they would realise that increased taxation is anti growth and every £ increase in tax is a £ less for spending/investment,that simple truth appears to not register.

The Winter Fuel Allowance is going to be totemic now, should have kept quiet and then made it taxable, fairer than the blanket decision on Pension Credit which disadvantages millions and omits 880,000. Blair and Brown stuck to Tory Fiscal rules for a year or so, they may be thinking the stability is necessary. October 30th is becoming increasingly significant, Labour need a big announcement with genuine clear tangible results.

Agreed, chopping the Allowance looks petty and mean impacting those who have little or no opportunity to replace it. It would also be a mistake in my view to unfreeze fuel duty as that is a regressive tax, choppy waters ahead.

Andy Mangan, would this have happened a few years ago?
Asking for a friend. 👀
