Now who thought Cameron's war prediction was daft? 🤔 The UK is sending two Royal Navy ships to Jersey "as a precaution" after threats of a French blockade of the island's main port over a post-Brexit fishing row. Downing Street confirmed Boris Johnson spoke to Chief Minister of Jersey Senator John Le Fondre on Wednesday evening "about the prospect of a blockade of Saint Helier" - the island's main town. "The prime minister and chief minister stressed the urgent need for a de-escalation in tensions and for dialogue between Jersey and France on fishing access," a Downing Street spokesman said. "The prime minister underlined his unwavering support for Jersey. He said that any blockade would be completely unjustified. As a precautionary measure the UK will be sending two offshore patrol vessels to monitor the situation. "They agreed the UK and Jersey governments would continue to work closely on this issue." news.sky.com/story/uk-to-send-two-royal-navy-boats-to-jersey-after-france-threatens-blockade-of-island-port-12297840

Good idea? Seems a way to circumvent the normal rules. "Individuals who have won prestigious awards from across the sciences, humanities, engineering, the arts and digital technology will be able to take advantage of changes to the Global Talent visa route. The Home Office said that people currently on the Global Talent route - which came into force in February 2020 and has been used by thousands of people to enter the UK - have to apply successfully to one of six endorsing bodies. The new route will allow applicants who hold a qualifying prize to fast track the endorsement application and instead make a single visa application." news.sky.com/story/zellweger-di-caprio-beyonce-among-stars-given-vip-status-under-new-uk-points-based-immigration-system-12297046

Remember our refusal to recognise the EU Ambassador? Well... "The UK government has agreed to give the European Union ambassador in London full diplomatic status. The Foreign Office had resisted the idea, arguing the EU should not be treated like an independent nation. But in a joint statement, the UK and EU announced ambassador Joao Vale de Almeida, would get "a status consistent with heads of missions of states". He will now be immune from detention, prosecution or taxation during his time in London. These are among the privileges given to diplomats in the states where they are stationed, as sanctioned by the Vienna Convention." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-57002735

I'm guessing we all saw the Orcas off the coast of Cornwall?
If it wasn't for Brexit, there'd be more fishing in our waters meaning less fish for the Orcas.
I'd consider that a win

This Freeports thingy... "Labour has accused trade secretary Liz Truss of a “catastrophic blunder” which could mean that UK companies which sign up to the government’s flagship freeport programme will be shut out of export markets worth £35bn a year. Rollover free trade deals signed with 23 countries including Canada, Switzerland, Norway and Singapore feature clauses specifically excluding manufacturers benefiting from freeport tax breaks, said shadow trade secretary Emily Thornberry. She said this meant companies taking advantage of new freeport zones at East Midlands Airport, Felixstowe & Harwich, Humber, Liverpool City Region, Plymouth & South Devon, Solent, Thames and Teesside will have to pay tariffs at potentially punitive rates on exports to these countries, which together make up almost 10 per cent of the UK’s global export market. But a government spokesperson denied there had been an error, insisting that companies will be able to choose between benefiting from either the “duty drawback” arrangements available to them in freeport zones or the preferential tariff rates negotiated in the free trade deals." www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/freeport-trade-deals-liz-truss-b1844620.html?amp=&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=upday

You forgot to highlight the last sentence in the report. "There is no doubt that London is the largest Capital market in Europe "
