DC hasn’t been wildly succesful at Walsall.
He was probably aware he wasn’t getting a contract next year

I've lost a bit more respect for DC if I'm honest. Jumping ship before the end of the season, at least GC did it before the transfer window.

They aren’t in a relegation battle and he had his two best players sold. As the poster above said he also probably knows that he’s not done enough to get an extension. To get offered 3.5 years off the back of a dodgy spell at Walsall he’d be mad not to take it.

Maybe thats why he’s jumped. He’s learned his lesson.

Seems kind of right in that Robbie Williams kind of way. Robbie Earle, Darren Beckford, Ian Taylor, Robbie van der Laan but not so much since.

This is deffo last chance saloon for DC as a creditable manager. Left us by mutual consent with us in a relegation spot and went to Walsall where their fans, ecstatic at first, soon became annoyed and confused by his secrecy over injuries, his constant changing of players game to game irrespective of the result and who played well and his baffling tactics.
It got to the stage where they were openly critical and many wanted him dispensed with. They can’t believe their good fortune that not only has he gone, they also got compo. Port Vale fans are delighted, not only that they’ve got one over on their rivals, but they also think they’re gonna get the DC who took us from Conference to L1 football in two seasons. He is also to work u dear a DoFl. He won’t like that; far too much of a control freak.
I’m afraid that ship has sailed. He is a plodding, restricted Conference of lower L2 manager who will never manage higher. I’m so glad he didn’t come back here, nearly as glad as the fact it won’t be Holloway t(e Professional Bristolian.

Just had a look at the 82ers forum, they really are a horrible vile club, a few posters come out with some crap on here agreed but they really are horrible, we have a poor ground not much to look forward to as a Gashead but I am so glad I am a Gashead rather than an 82er and coming out with all the disgusting comments they do especially about DC

Darrell Clarke. Club legend. Great manager for us. Got the club, got the fans. Took us on a roller-coaster ride which will be talked about for decades, ultimately leaving the club far better off than when he was appointed.
For all that he, like many managers, has limitations, it never ceases to amaze me how happy some Gasheads are to stick the boot in.
If you can’t cherish the good times at a club like ours, where let’s face it, those good times are far outweighed by bad and mediocre, then it really is a shame.
Best of luck at Port Vale, DC. Hope you get them back up.

Agree totally re.Holloway ( the clown ) and some of what u say is true re DC , but have enormous affection for the time he was with us everything has felt ‘ flat and uninteresting , since he left 😟😢😩 Utg 💙
