This is deffo last chance saloon for DC as a creditable manager. Left us by mutual consent with us in a relegation spot and went to Walsall where their fans, ecstatic at first, soon became annoyed and confused by his secrecy over injuries, his constant changing of players game to game irrespective of the result and who played well and his baffling tactics. It got to the stage where they were openly critical and many wanted him dispensed with. They can’t believe their good fortune that not only has he gone, they also got compo. Port Vale fans are delighted, not only that they’ve got one over on their rivals, but they also think they’re gonna get the DC who took us from Conference to L1 football in two seasons. He is also to work u dear a DoFl. He won’t like that; far too much of a control freak. I’m afraid that ship has sailed. He is a plodding, restricted Conference of lower L2 manager who will never manage higher. I’m so glad he didn’t come back here, nearly as glad as the fact it won’t be Holloway t(e Professional Bristolian. Agree totally re.Holloway ( the clown ) and some of what u say is true re DC , but have enormous affection for the time he was with us everything has felt ‘ flat and uninteresting , since he left 😟😢😩 Utg 💙 Don’t get me wrong, I love DC for how he dragged us from Conference to L1. He didn’t really change his style/methods and was sussed by other coaches who were able to nullify anything he tried. I don’t think he made good use of his budget either. Hes done a Coughlan on Walsall to some extent. As Vale are obviously prepared to invest, just like Mansfield they’ll expect results, pretty sharp as well. He has a D of F, no guesses where the blame will be laid if things don’t go to plan!

I do think one day DC will return to the football club. Today was not that day. I’m hoping to return to the Mem too. 🙏 Are you Paul Tisdale?

Or perhaps he wil take some of ours after all we are overstocked with them

3 defeats and 2 draws following his appointment, will he survive until the summer if Port Vale keep failing to win games/drop into the bottom 2? DC's turning into the next Paul Trollope, in fact he's been in a slow decline since he suggested that he'd spoken to him about his time at Rovers!

Did anyone hear the reason why he made the move from Walsall to Port Vale ? Seemed an odd move to me

Early days at Port Vale, where he’s inherited a bit of a mess. Objectively he didn’t exactly fail at Walsall either. If he gets Port Vale safe and then pushes them into the top half next year his stock will rise. It’s a perilous game being a lower league manager.

DC can only dream of being at the same level as Trolls who has coached at Premier League and Championship level since the day he left us.

Sorry but how can you speak about DC in such a way, when he was appointed and went through his rough spell, yes I was against him, but I’d have him back now. Paul Trollope, no thanks.

DC might only be able to dream of PTs coaching success, but likewise PT can only dream of DCs management success. A fantastic coach PT may be, a manager he is not. Ps, same for Garner.

Don’t they have similar records as a football league manager?

A fantastic coach PT may be, a manager he is not. Ps, same for Garner. DC left us in the bottom 4, did very little of note at Walsall and now is struggling to buy a win at PV, post our promotion to L1 his management career can hardly be classed as a success. PT had a good spell with us, as did DC, neither's had any success, management wise, since.

Not really. DC had 2 decent seasons with us in L1 before losing it at the end.
Whilst he didn’t set the world alight at Walsall, he didn’t get sacked after 12 games like PT did.
DC was a victim of his own success and didn’t know L1 well enough. PT was guided by LL (IMO) where as soon as he left, he was completely found out as a manager.
As for Vale, very early days yet.

Honestly we lose a game or two and some people will find anything to moan about or criticise.
Vale’s last three games have been against the top 2 and away to the team with the best home record in top 4 leagues - all the games have been decided by the odd goal.
Give it a rest, show the bloke some respect, and head over to otib if you want to criticise people.

What's Rovers losing got to do with DC, give it a rest yourself and let posters discuss what they want to on Gaschat. Most Gasheads feel Barton will have a major job now turning Rovers around, the same clearly applies with DC at Port Vale, as a sinking ship takes some saving.
