Some absolute nonsense talked on here about his coaching badges. DC had his A license BEFORE he won promotion from the Conference. Just like the millions of players you suggest and managers ππππππππππππ yes nonsense pirate ? Is that Gibberish for 'Didnt know that. Sorry and thanks for the info"?

Pretty certain he obtained his UFFA(?) licence some time after we were promoted from the Conference. Let's be honest since he lost his way after we sold Taylor, Bodin and Harrison he's done little at Rovers or Walsall and so far his repeating that at PV. Why anybody would sign a player like Payne for Β£150K is really beyond belief. No, he had the UEFA A License before he won the first promotion with us. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2018/june/29.06.18-darrell-uefa-badge/Just 6 months later he lost his job!

Itβs lost it since he got his coaching badges,heβs just a conference/league 2 manager at best Iβm afraid. Some absolute nonsense talked on here about his coaching badges. DC had his A license BEFORE he won promotion from the Conference. He got his badge in 2018

Port Vale fan in peace. Darrell has come in and got three points from his first six games with us. Walsall fans have been pretty negative about him. I just thought I'd come over here and find out the opinion over here. Have we made a good choice? Here is the thread discussing him on our fan forum. A Walsall fan posted there and any of you would be more than welcome if you had the time: www.onevalefan.co.uk/forum/topic/46536-darrell-clarke/Thanks! When it clicks with Darrell (and it will), you'll be glad you have him. He's an absolute diamond.

I'll let DC explain for the more hard of understanding amongst us (@harleygas). "It's not really a coaching course, it's based on managerial roles, with different leaders - Gareth Southgate came in, Frank Lampard came in, we had the head of London air ambulance talking about dealing under different pressures, so it wasn't a coaching course, that's your A license."

Hope you are getting some interesting feedback. Though I would share a few links as I found listening to and watching things about previous managers interesting and exciting. Recently our podcast team had some players from our back to back promotion team in and they spoke about what it was about DC that they like or clicked with etc. You might find that part interesting. Also they had a chat with Darrell, so included that too: gascastpodcast.co.uk/listen/open.spotify.com/episode/7qSWq4YakqcUvcqlD6Yc4hI also love watching a couple of you tube vids where you can see the team spirit and fight that he has managed to generate along with the connection with the fanbase: Enjoy!

3 defeats and 2 draws following his appointment, will he survive until the summer if Port Vale keep failing to win games/drop into the bottom 2? DC's turning into the next Paul Trollope, in fact he's been in a slow decline since he suggested that he'd spoken to him about his time at Rovers! This is the reality - Vale had a strong post Christmas period last season and we missed out on the playoffs after the season halting agreement by something ridiculous like 0.06 ppg. Many of us were expecting another strong shout to go up this year. Then manager John Askey had a recruitment nightmare to end all nightmares. Lazy signings galore. Signed some utter, utter, utter gash. Our spine of the team, which is quite old, got another year older and lost another 3 yards of pace. After a decent start the season went tits up in October and has been downhill since. Compounding the poor recruitment is the fact that 6 first team starters are constantly injured and have been out for months. Tom Pope, David Amoo, David Worrall, James Gibbons, Monty, Manny Oyeleke, they've all been long term and/or frequent injuries. This meant the side having to be put out is full of Askey's summer signings - some of whom are simply not professional footballers. The point is DC will do well to keep this band of wasters up. We then need a violent clear out in the Summer, literally dragging players off the premises if required, and a total fresh start. Root to branch. Spray Weedol on the fckers and get them out. Vale got rid of their parasitic owner in 2019 and we now have the excellent Shanahan family in charge. Vale have money, they're quite prepared to invest, the owner Carol stuck in another Β£1m this season to cover the Covid losses. It is incredibly infuriating that she has so far been rewarded for her commitment and investment by the threat of relegation because of this dogshlt squad, a mixture of incompetence by the previous manager, and certain players in the current camp who don't care as much as they should. They had their furlough wages topped up, they're looked after incredibly well by Carol, PVFC is night and day from what it was under the previous weapons in the boardroom, it's a completely different club. Some are taking advantage of her good nature and need culling. I know what you may be thinking after the 'Vale have money' comments but this isn't a typical FL owner plaything scenario. She has run a charity for years and since last March, Vale have produced and donated over 300,000 free meals to families in Stoke on Trent who are registered below the poverty line. There is some interaction with foodbanks but I believe her main target is working with the headteachers of local schools who know which of their kids are struggling and she makes sure those kids get fed. There is also lots of socially distanced doorstep visits of the elderly who were/are lonely over lockdown, and she had the players ring thousands of ST holders. Her investment in Vale (she and her husband have a very successful IT/data security business) is not an ego thing where she expects results instantly in a kneejerk fashion, it's very much a long term project for the community thing, she is putting stuff in place now the benefits of which won't be seen for many years, but that bedrock foundation has been missing for 20 years under a succession of parasitic, scumbag owners and it's finally being put back in place. I am not judging DC too harshly on the results of this season, he can only work with what he's got, and what he's got is a rag tag bunch of mouthbreathers. DC needs to be judged on what he does next year tbh. I was a little unsure by his somewhat brash personality at first but recently he's softened up a bit. I'm looking forward to him building a squad from scratch working with DOF David Flitcroft and his recently appointed assistant Andy Crosby from the Northern Ireland international set up. Stay up this year and, surprisingly given our position in the table at the moment, it's actually all looking very promising going forward. Hi mate Just fed the Vale results into my tableau to see how your managers this season compare. Obvs small sample size for Danny and Darrell but you may find it interesting. Take away for me from this is that it seems like Darrell is attempting to make you more solid at the back first and foremost then build on that. Goals conceded is current 1.0 per match under Darrell. Shots on target against you per match has reduced to 3.7 from 4.3 under John Askey. This however as you have probably noticed has meant that your goals have dried up a bit as have your shots on target. Interestingly though Darrell has the team taking the most shots per game, so a bit more accuracy might just get the results you all want. Hope you find that interesting.

Nice post from doha2. Hope you do well under DC - the day he took the job with you, many here were hoping for a return to us when the news he had left Walsaw broke, which says all you need to know. He won't always get it right but he will give 100%.
As it turns out I think we have been surprised by Barton in a good way. Hope we both stay up.

Quick summing up on DC, when he was N02 to John Ward i thought he made it to obvious that he thought he could do better than Ward, got his wish and relegation followed, nothing but praise for the next 5 years or so, was used to conference football and after tricky start Quickly drummed into players and fans that if we did not embrace and adjust we were going nowhere. Well we did adjust and happy days ahead untill he seemed to run out of ideas in league 1 and at the end looked like a beaten man, personally i wish he had taken a month off , recharged and come back fighting but it was not to be. I have nothing but respect for the man but was glad he never came back after Walsall, he would have been on a hiding to nothing and going back rarely works does it? I think that this year for Vale will all be about surviving in league2, and given that, i am pretty sure DC will build you a side to challenge next season so hang on in there, Same with us and JB who IMHO will keep us in league 1 and then build a team to challenge at the other end of the table. Good luck to Vale, is John Rudge still there? As a side note it is enjoyable to have these chats with fans of other clubs and think they should be encouraged, same with our newly adopted Everton friend, reminds me of chatting to away fans in the North stand at Eastville , happy and very different days!

I can't see there's any evidence that DC's forte is rebuilding squads/signing players.
