Longest current winning streak in English football apparently - fair play 👏 AC & DC, with their winning formula, don’t take a “touch too much!” 😂

Sorry that you appear to be going down.
The mental bastard is unbeaten in 8, won 7, conceded 2, 5 clean sheets in a row, and the young centre mid he made captain did this last night.
The point is, all set up for him to get a nice reception at the memorial ground next season as we both battle it out for autos.

Didn't realise DC had recruited Andy Crosby to his back room team. A shrewd move.

He will get a great a reception. I think you will be well placed to push for promotion next season. For us, we’ve got a lot more work to do and our prospects are a lot less certain ... but 🤞

Interestingly he didn't win any of his first seven matches in charge (there was even some concern Vale might be dragged into a relegation battle) but then took 22 points out of a possible 24. Definitely a better way to do it than have an initial new manager bounce which then falls flat.

Another win, insightful interview below interesting to compare his approach to Barton’s in similar situations:

The man is an absolute legend and all his graft has just been undone by this current crop of talentless footballers Although I wanted us to stick with DC he was taking us down himself I still think he would of turned it around , but I agree with you , we should of stuck with him regardless of relegation. Still , all done now and league two awaits.

This is a prime example of a real manager who doesn't come in and blame everyone, players, previous managers, board members and not himself. It's a bad workman who blames his tools.

This is an interview after 9 unbeaten games so you cant compare to any done by JAB.
DC himself after the very poor start did the same questioning of are the players up for the fight. His old look them in the eyes and see if they fancy it phrase being used again like at rovers. His squad of players are in the vast majority over 25 with loads in the 29-35 range. So not under 23 cone beaters.
He has done a great job turning the team around and long may his success continue. He will need new blood in the summer though as so many of the players will just be too old as a core of the squad.
Perhaps the vale squad were fit at the start of the season (?) . Perhaps they are not having to play a 20 year old centre back in midfield alongside a 20 year old loanee (?).
How many rovers players have not been missing from either injury or suspension at some point this season ? Anybody know ?
Jaakkola Little Hare Kilgour Ehmer Koiki Ogogo Grant Upson McCormick Nicholson Rodman Ayunga Daly Hanlan
Any more ? Anyone recall a season when so many players got injured/suspended ?

Still hurts to see him happy with another team’s badge on his chest. I love that man.

Ta be fair pal, he did blame others when we got relegated ta conference. Don’t take that as dissing him he was one of our best ever managers an will always be a legend, but let’s not use him to attack our current manager, DC had many faults himself.👍

Chucked in with 8 games left with the team getting battered every week. Could have been the end of him but luckily we were too broke to sack him and appoint someone else. DC does so well at the lower levels because of his excellent man management skills IMO. Really gets the players fighting every week until the final whistle. Think he got a bit annoyed constantly having his best players sold for peanuts and promises not fulfilled but he’s still young and will learn how to handle these things better. Guy is an absolute legend and as mentioned above, it hurts to see him doing so well with another clubs crest on his shirt.

‘Never should have let him go’
I’m not sure I recall too many people saying otherwise at the time. It is funny how short memories can become in next to no time at all. DC (as wonderful as he had been) wasted copious amounts of money on terrible footballers, Burn, Bennett, Mensah & Payne no less. Not to mention young Tom Nichols (far from terrible in my view, it just didn’t work out) He also managed to assemble a woeful squad who were heading one way & that was down. Being 4-0 behind in less than an hour at home to Doncaster come December time, really was the final straw.
Still, I very much adore the man to this day and glad to see he is alive and kicking with a much improved Vale side under his command.
