Easy to say we didn’t deserve that result, 2 nil flattered them but we have to take out chances. We should have been at least 2 up at half time.

The difference today was John Akinde. He was utter rubbish for us but he’s turned himself into a very effective centre forward at this level. Half the reason he was “rubbish” for us is that he played most of that season with a hernia . . .

Less chances Tuesday, but they all pretty much went in. The only stat that really makes a difference.

Deserved something from that game. Had mcCormick put away that great chance before their first or either shot that hit the 'woodwork' gone in it would have been very different. As soon as we were chasing we looked vulnerable. Ah well, we are competing and still above relegation currently so keep going!! UTG

I hope not, this isn’t a bad defeat- we always lose at Gillingham and a bit of a reality check from Tuesday might not be a bad thing in the grand scheme of things in terms of not getting carried away and knowing there is still work to be done. The main thing is it sounds like we created chances and should be able to kick on from here. Would be daft to panic and appoint Barton simply because we lost a game of fine margins at a ground we typically lose at anyway. Panic and appoint him because we lost? No, I'd appoint him whether we won or lost. Best man for the job amongst the boring and uninspiring list of candidates linked.

Noticed the commentary team talking about positives with ten minutes to go, I get that but what positives can really come from another defeat!

We have to move now and get that new manager in ...
TW has put some fight back into the team now we need to build.
Thought we did ok ... Defence again cost us - Baldwin / Harries are possibly the worst defensive pairing in L1 - Ehmer returning wont improve it much
Nicholson should have started ...
Hanlan made Akinde look like Aguero ...
Jonah looked ok... Rest ok.

Akinde should have had a hat trick. An experienced striker made us look like idiots. New Manager ASAP please. God we are fickle sometimes! Yes we lost but we’ve all been crying out for a more attacking line up and we were punished for not taking our chances You can see the fight is there, it’s just the same old problem of not being able to defend properly For me Hanlan needs a rest, he’s played almost every game and looks lost. Play Daly and Ayunga up top with Nicholson behind. Must beat Wigan. And you fail to mention we did not score again. A striker like Akinde was what we needed at the start of the season. Somebody who only needs a chance or two to score, not twenty!

Gillingham were poor, but we are worse, of the good chances we did have unfortunately they didn't go in.

Needed to make that first half count. Gills reorganised half time and dealt with our direct style a lot better. Where’s Westbrooke? Would have liked to see him on for Daly in 2nd half and dropping deeper so we could have mixed it up a bit.
Tuesday we took our chances, today we didn’t. We’ll still be fine.

Story of the season.
Not being able to put chances away, while conceding them at the other end.
Recipe for disaster.
Yet another defeat after a good performance.
Whoever takes over needs to rectify this quickly.

Key moment was the McCormick miss. He is terrible in front of goal. He misses they come straight down the pitch and score. No way did we deserve to lose that game. Referee booked our players for nearly every foul we did yet Gillingham got away with most of theirs. Defensive lapses cost us in the end but we had enough chances to win that game with ease. Must appoint a Manager NOW.

Widdrington having a go at ref Don’t blame him That’s either pressure or his volatile ego. He won’t be so bullish tonight, bit of a reality check for him...but he can get a tune out of these players and even in defeat that has to count for something rather than possibly bringing in Barton and the players downing tools. I hope they at least give it Tuesday which should be winnable on recent post-Tisdale form.

Difference between the sides an experienced striker. You can't miss that many chances and expect to get anything from the game. Probably the better side overall. Typical Gills team, every trick in the book, arms legs hands all over you and when you touch them they go down like they've been shot. We desperately needed someone to just shoot with some conviction.

UTG If we don’t take our chances and switch off twice like we did we don’t deserve something from the game. Ultimately when it mattered we were poor in both boxes and they weren’t. Nothing unlucky about that.

Harries and Baldwin very poor, why Grant does ever come on , I don’t know, he’s like the invisible man, The guys up front tired 2nd half, we are what we are, a poor 1st division side, need a few points out of the next couple of games against lower sides, New manager has got to come in and rebuild again, sorry but Tommy has got to take a portion of the blame in signing to many really poor players not up to this standard. New manager has got a bit of a job on here
