I think there is every chance that Joey could get us into the play offs next season regardless of what league we are in. I see a real change of effort/energy since he came in and am really optimistic of our chances this reason to avoid the relegation. At the end of this season I think (like most clubs) we will see a lot of players contracts up - so activity may well be buzzing once again in the summer. I will have to dig up the data I made as haven't got it to hand but I think the following players are out of contract in the summer: Kelly, Bennett, Ogogo, Davies, Upson, Leahy, JvS, André, Little, Hare, Rodman, Tomlinson, Armstrong Loans end: Day, McCormick, Oztumer So if we keep none of them that is 16 players that need to be replaced. Would you keep any? and if so, who? Do you feel Barton would attract quality players or the opposite? Looking at the above list I would retain Davies (if fit enough to play a full season), Leahy, JVS or Day (not both) and possibly Tomlinson. Try to acquire McCormick from Chelsea. The rest can be thanked for their services and wished the best. Was thinking similar apart from (unpopular opinion incoming) Leahy... I think he is doing really well this season (Fair play) and seems to work well as captain... but we brought in 3 LB/LWB in the window when we had 2 on the books already. If we are going to make £££ we are going to need to develop Koiki or Jones or risk them just going at the end of their contracts. Also we have Dave Tutonda... playing WBs again now so might just get a look in. Davies would be interesting one... tracking him at Barrow, not showing a massive amount but it has only been 5 games so far and he has come back from bad injury. We have 4 CBs plus him on the books at the moment in Ehmer, Kilgour, Baldwin and Harries and I don't know how many is too many. Given Williams seems to be able to play RB/RWB and RCB in a back 3 we probably have enough cover. JvS has to be a long term project... the guy is massive and only 24 so still has a decent career ahead of him. David Coles, given his CV should be able to get a tune out of him given a lot of training time so worth keeping if financially viable. I don't know enough about Tomlinson but he's come through the academy I think so deserves a chance and I believe him and Armstrong are still under 21 so that helps. I am on the fence with Hare, has a quality ball in him and get forward well... defensively not brilliant but then WBs are normally more attack minded. Unsure. Ogogo (when fit) certainly would fit into the pressing CM role thats been working for us under JB but I think that there will probably be other options out there come summer. Rodmans looked good in the past few games but is what 34 now and probably on a higher wage than most so might be worth getting cheaper and younger in the summer. Wish Kelly well at Yeovil hopefully he signs with them in the summer

I agree. It’s much better talking like this than the other thread headed relegation. Winners just don’t think like that. They just don’t. We have a winner in our management team now. This team will click and could win next four games. If you think winning one in three games means we have a winning management team, then I suppose your post has some merit...let’s compare notes after the next four games. Good idea. We are playing with purpose and we look like we can win games. A difference is felt around the club and on this chat group. Winners think long term and build hope for something better. Things are getting better my friend.

I think there is every chance we will be in the play offs next season - The L2 ones. I'm sure there are lots on here ( they wont admit to it ) that would prefer a successful season in L2 with a Wembley win to another 'hanging in there' season in L1 - Might actually cauterise the open wound we have self inflicted. Of the list ... I would keep Leahy, try to get McCormick back however unlikely.... Day as I dont think Anssi will be back, Maybe Hare and Abs Ogogo - the rest can go bleed someone else. The priority should be how we keep hold of JB and his team no matter where we are next season - the change in the players is hugely positive and I think he could go on to be hugely successful here if given the true backing by Board and Fans alike. Rich - You are my sunshine on a cloudy day mate!! Pretty sure Jaakkola signed until 2022 with an option for further year: www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2020/july/anssi-jaakkola-new-deal/I hope he stays with us ... I have sponsored him this season for home matches ... Talk about the Kiss of Death. I am nervous that he has been out so long ...something doesn't feel right. Hope he is ok.

I’m trying to be positive but the facts suggest nothing has changed...we had 27 points from 28 games when St. Joey arrived and now we have 30 points from 31 games. Let’s hope that after 7 games our saviour has gained us more than a point from each.

I am more hopeful than I was before Joey. Let’s see how it works out. I agree, results matter now.

If the thinkable happens and we win lots of games and finish in top ten do u think that Joey Barton will get us into playoffs next season? [b Mid table would require us to double our current points tally which would mean winning 10 or winning 9 and drawing 3 of our remaining 15 games. Regardless of that pig flying I think that if JB keeps us up this season and stays out of trouble then yeah we’ll be set up nicely for a good season next year. I know many said the same this summer about our chances under Garner but I wasn’t one of those. I only really saw it going one way after the way he destroyed everything good about our squad. Barton has taken over an unbalanced squad with potential in some areas and he’s got the contacts and staff to create something decent for us in the future but first things first he has to keep us up and stay out of trouble and not get sent down in the summer. 3 big hurdles to overcome before August.

Rich your bus has let us down consistently over the last few seasons, that’s why I’ll be starting the Joey Barton high speed Express starting in the summer for all those that want to jump aboard ! Im sure i heard our joey commenting he prefers smaller squads . Easier to keep players happy . So i expect more to leave than arrive.
Im not going to speculate on individual players livlihoods.Except to say i expect a couple of more experienced players to arrive.

Over the years we’ve been on a few journeys.

I’ve still think we’re about 50/50 that we’ll get the points to stay up. 6 wins and 3 draws isn’t beyond possibility. I said a couple of weeks ago that I felt under Tisdale we were 90% going down and that under JB i was 50/50. 3 games on and three decent performances and 3 points in the bag , not enough points from those games considering we played well in all of them other than with 10 men for 35 minutes sure but definitely reason for the fans to be optimistic I think. I reckon the players will feel the same.

For me it’s: Salmon Haddock Plaice Cod Herring Mackerel Sardines Bass Tuna Pollock Interesting. I'd have said Anssi Jaakkola Kimi Raikonnen Mika Hakkinen Valteri Botas Keke Rosberg Erm ... who else? Bjork? No she's Icelandic ... dunno. Have to settle for top 5 then.

Burton always looked a 0-0 or 1-0 loss even before the sending off. We'll now need a minor miracle to avoid another defeat tomorrow, then it's Accrington on Tuesday, a team we rarely beat even when playing well. You're totally deluded if you're looking beyond finishing outside the bottom 7 sides, all of which are fighting for survival.
