Sadly with posh having much better players than us, I wonder whether JCH has flourished because of that and whether he would of shown the same form he is now if he had stayed. Given all clubs financial positions. I hope posh do sell him for 5 and we pocket a million. Not to spend but to keep us further out of the red. Peterborough are a very good judge of player on the whole, so allows them to spend reasonably big on players with a certain degree of confidence they will make a profit. Apart from JCH, they signed Jack Taylor for £500k from conference team Barnet on 7th Jan 2020, and already had offers for him at the start of this season!! Szmodics is another one, signed for around £1M on a 4 year deal and will probably be sold for more than they bought him for. (Edit: They paid B.City as much as they gave us for JCH, yet Szmodics hadnt been proven above L2 level) Meanwhile, Andy Tilson still holds the record for our biggest transfer fee paid, at a time I was still at secondary school Not actually Correct, Tom Nicholls

They do seem to do well, but it doesn't always work. Then their owner likes to shame the player on twitter for not buggering off. Mo Eisa hasn’t worked neither did Maddison. From memory, McAnthony puts them on 3 year deals and when they get to the last year they’re expected to sign an extension. If they refuse they are transfer listed so that they can still be moved on for a fee. I was thinking of that Ricky Miller guy, who everyone on here said we should sign from Dover a few seasons ago. He went to Peterborough, didn't set the world alight, and the owner tried to force him out on loan - taking to twitter to vent his frustration with the player.

His value has jumped 4 million in half a season!! Strange if he did leave them so soon as he could have stayed here and still had plenty of interest in the summer Length of contract has a lot to do with his value rising so much though. Not saying we'd get £4m for him if he was still here but undoubtedly a lot more than £1.25m.

They got significantly more for Toney than they paid us for JCH even though they both had the same contract length. Toney is 2 years younger than JCH but still...

Although since leaving P'boro is career seems to have gone off the rails. What's happened to Ryan Broom he seems to have disappeared from 1st team action.

The player I’m expecting to leave Posh soon is Dembele... he’s outstanding talent and still very young...

JCH I always rated him between £5M -£7M and thought we should have offered him a contract he could not refuse. He became injury free with us and was playing more and more games for us. He basically kept us in L1 with his goals the last 2 seasons? You could not fault him for his work rate. Posh got him very cheap!
We would have benefited in 2 ways if he had stayed with us: 1) we would probably be safe from relegation at this point? Relegation itself and its price would have paid for any increase we would have paid for him. 2) We could have gained the full benefit of his future transfer fee.
Double whammy for us!
I still rate him highly and put money on him to be top goal scorer in L1 this season. But more importantly, I loved watching him play! I would value him at >= £8M now. A lot of clubs in Premier League and Championship have bought “donkeys” for £20M+. JCH is a real work horse and has a footballing brain. He will do well in a higher league; I would love to watch him in the Premier League!
Hope he makes it!

If we got an additional million than I would suggest this will be seen as smart business, he was out of contract in the following year and indicted he wanted to leave. Not sure what the clauses are that are in the sale contract but assume not only a sell on clause but also a goals scored clause and perhaps PFA team of the year? He is highest paid player at Peterborough so probably would be beyond our wage structure.
I think £5million will be good business for JCH

JCH was never going to stay after GC left the club. He saw BG take a team playoff bound with him scoring goals to being a team plummeting down the table. I think he only scored 2 or 3 goals in the league under Garner.
Peterborough are always pushing for promotion even if they dont achieve it .
The choice to leave was obvious for a striker with ambitions of success.
He made the right move.

Losing our best players to a club like Peterborough will always be disappointing to me, no matter what the fee. I thought things would change in this regard when Wael bought the club, but not to be.

Yawn! JCH did not want to stay ,end of! grateful for his time with us and his goals but got fed up with his sulking, IMHO the deal we got was ok and the sell on clauses very shrewd by Rovers for a change,

We always put sell on clauses when selling a player, as do every other club. We've been doing that for 25 years or more.

I reckon Posh will go up and they’ll keep him.
If he starts banging them in, in the Championship, not impossible to think that a top Championship/lower premier league club might bid 10 to 15 million on him. It’s a massive step up though and I’d have my doubts about his mobility at that level.

I think he will get better and better It must have been frustrating for him with us single handedly winning games for us? If we had retained him e would not be in this relegation fight? But with the players we have brought in, he was wise to go?
