Planning permission just passed for a new Stadium and Complex at AFC Fylde. Another little club trying to do a Fleetwood Town. They used to be known as Kirkham & Wesham F.C. and have progressed from North West Counties League Division Two in 2007 to the Conference North. Prior to that they were in the West Lancashire League.

If we don't build the UWE we will become stuck in this shithole league while clubs like this continue to overtake us. Eastleigh will be the next one.

Ok, what am I missing? Someone is pumping cash into small clubs and making them big players. Why the hell can't we get investment like that?

Any prospective investor would be put off becoming a Director of BRFC when they see the vitriol aimed at the existing board members, though thankfully not too prevalent on this particular forum. It would only be a matter of time before the new investor becomes the target so why would they bother?

I remember liam Gallagher from oasis being asked when man city were in the 3rd flight of English football why he doesn't invest.... he said something along the lines of; "I don't want my house to get smashed up"....

Commenting on the decision David Haythornthwaite, Chairman of AFC Fylde said: “........ this is really good news and the result of a hell of a lot of work behind the scenes by a lot of people. We’ve already invested over a million pounds in acquiring the site and preparing for this moment so it would be a tragedy for us to fall at this last hurdle. The good thing is that if we do succeed next Wednesday ( planning permission granted today) work can begin virtually straightaway. There are some legals to agree and we then have to wait six weeks to allow for a judicial review. So if all goes to plan we will begin construction in late August, early September”. The site will provide a new six thousand capacity stadium for AFC Fylde with 2000 seats in the main stand and will meet all the ground requirements for the Football League. It will also provide eight all weather 3G pitches, including a full size football pitch and hockey pitch up to National League standards. Mr Haythornthwaite added: “Our manager has given us a team to be proud of and we now want to build a stadium to suit. After five promotions in just eight years we are only two steps away from our aim of League Football by 2022. This facility will be a huge step forward and hopefully convince any remaining doubters of our true intentions”.

Hugo's question asked why investors put money into small clubs and not BRFC. Those small clubs will not have the same numbers of dissenters that we do and investing in such a club might be a more pleasurable experience.

If you look at teams like Blackburn and Man U then it puts us into perspective. We have had this lot do so much damage. I think any investor who knows football would understand the anger and frustration. The facts are that our current chair and board have failed year on year and yet we are still incredibly well supported given those facts. That good people like yourself and Bideford travel such a distance in testament to the potential that is here. With the right people to run this club, we really could do very well.
