Whether we are relegated at the end of the season or not, it's very clear a major revamp in the squad is needed, that being said; what are people's thoughts on who should be kept? I'll give a template and people put Keep or get rid or perhaps unsure. (although most players' circumstances will be dependent on contracts, suppose for this anyone can be let go).

I think it’s sadly too easy to say keep/clear - we need the full list of who’s under contract for next season first. Been posted a few times here though, so won’t be long.
But I worry about clearing out many of the team who have 2+ year deals

There are I think 12 out of contract the following I believe will be released JVS Little Upson Bennett Ogogo Hare I would offer contracts to Rodman and Leahy not sure who the other 4 are

Others maybe out on loan but we would end up paying at least some of their wages. Then you have players out of contract like Rodman who most of us believe deserve an extension but can you afford to offer him one if there are only so many new players we can bring in? |

It's just a paper exercise. It's very harsh as they are all human beings who have tried their best for the most part but sadly most have fallen short of being good enough for L1 football. Its possible that individually they are not awful but whoever is responsible for assembling this squad has spectacularly failed. |

I dont think a goalscoring left back captain out of contract like leahy will be short of offers. If the salary post is true then I cant see him signing a new one if he could at least treble it with another team and not having to ply his trade in div 2.

to say we need a squad clear out is great on paper.
couple of things to think about
Who is still under contract?
Who is going to want to buy any of them?
Can we keep any of the few that are any good?
You dont just put a whole new team together at the start of a season and expect them to play well as a team, we've just witnessed that this season.
Players need time with each other.
I certainly won't be expecting a bounce back to league one automatically, we'll be slumbering around down there for a couple of years, these were our glory years, or as JB like to call it "our time in the sun"

I think one of us has missed the point then, because if you are only saying keep Barrett because he is on a contract then that makes this thread kinda redundant. Barrett has been poor in the few appearances I've seen him have this season and still looks overweight and unfit for a professional footballer, (he is by no means overweight, but is for a footballer)

I make that 9/10 out including some very high wage earners. Replace with 4/5 quality proven players for whatever league we are in and we’ll be a real force. Obviously some of those I’ve said keep we prob won’t be able to so will mean a few more coming in.

Naming no names, but I think that some of the players who are still under contract next year, may be good enough, at least as squad players in Div 2 (if that is where we land) for us. I am basing thish on the fact players that have not "shined" for us, have had decent seasons or at least been regular starters in league 2.
