Can’t be bothered to read the thread but no doubt the inteligencia are excitedly slagging off our strikers again with no mention of the pathetic service up to them. Do we coach the defence to just kick the ball as high and far as they can? When we played to our strikers strengths they actually scored a few goals. Managers job, tactics and coaching and building team spirit/resilience which has got worse...

So many similarities to countless other games this season. Plenty of the ball restricted Pompey to 1 shot on target and still managed to concede. I thought we'd exhausted the handbook on how to concede poor goals yet today we surpassed ourselves. How you can let a goal in from your own corner when the opposition have brought everyone back is beyond me. Again we never looked like scoring, couple of balls across the box which nobody gambled on and two long range efforts from McCormick just about sums up our attacking efforts. Crewe have nothing to play for so I hope we take the opportunity to have a look at some of the development squad, Mehew, Hoole, Warwick & Phillips could all play some part, it's not as if the result will effect us or Crewe.

been saying this all along, not Bartons fault, Garner and Widdrington The problem we have now is a Gardening leave/fidd attitude in the squad . The two put together this squad on there joint vision. Any new players will be consumed by this culture. Unless these players find other clubs . We are stuck with them for up to 2 years. So Barton could sign a few good players only to be taken over by the negative culture. I'm sorry but no team can lose 11 out of 14 away and not win a single game and say they are trying.. yep. Not one should be here.next season It's a two year project just to get us back here

How many 3rd managers do you know who have turned a side around without a window? He might not have been their 3rd but DC has done ok at Port Vale without a window and they were a sinking ship for a while. Yet their manager still lasted longer than Garner. If you lose two managers in one season it leaves the 3rd with an impossible task. Regarding Port Vale I think they had a decent squad already there it just needed organisation. L2 you can get away with lack of quality whereas in L1 you cant as much, hence DC managing in L2. Port Vale already had decent players there, we didnt.

(I'm not saying you but) A lot of people wanted that, they hated that Garner tried to get us passing the ball around on the floor, and long for the GC days of hoofing it towards a forward. I like the passing game if its purposeful. The trouble is our players aren't good enough and when they try to knock it around they end up going backwards, losing possession or lumping it forward to nobody in particular. IMO a decent side can mix it up and play to their strengths. What good does smashing high balls to Hanlan and Daly when they are marked by a 6ft 4 CB? I notice we never seem to have any space in the final 3rd yet repeatedly give that to the opposition. So many things wrong. Problem is that I haven't seen any evidence that JB has got any of it sorted, lets hope with a new 11 (I might keep a couple of this lot) next season they can buy in to his way of playing otherwise we will heading further down. I think the malaise in the club is that deep it is only going to take drastic action, we might have a nice training pitch but that's not enough to attract the decent players we need as they will know just how bad things are here? Relegation was obvious but I fear this is only the start.

Ah it's over, thank God. No point picking anyone, they've all been complete crap, for a long time. They should be ashamed of themselves and the sooner they get moved on and replaced by players who've something to offer the better.
Cider anyone?

Hopefully Barton will be allowed to bring in the right players to suit the direct style he seems to favour.
Let’s just hope if we aren’t top after 10 games next season we don’t then sack him and bring in a manager that wants to play a passing game.
DNA my arse.

Can we play next week instead of the players. We’re down and they don’t care. At least we care and the final result will be much the same.

The thing is, im not even remotely gutted... which is strange following a relegation. I think this is because we got exactly what we deserved and never looked like we could stay up.

Are we allowed to swear on gaschat ?
Because I am mightily F**ked off. This squad has been a shower of s**t all season. After all that hard work with a double promotion to get us back into L1 only to throw it all away and get relegated back to L2. Let's hope Barton can assemble a squad capable of getting us back up.
Good night Irene I'll see you in my dreams

However much Barton wants a clear out, it ain’t happening. We’ve still got at least 10-15 players under contract that are going to be very difficult to shift in the summer. Not really inspiring confidence in them with his comments, no matter how truthful they may be.

One word: Sh!te.
Nice post match touch there from Oz, all smiles handshake with Cowley and Pompey....
Please f off and go. Asap.
McCormick again m o m for sheer endeavour. As long as he stays away from one place, I'll support his move and career, good on you, son.
The hurt begins...

Throughout the game Baldwin kept hitting long balls to non existent strikers what a gameplan Joey, let's do it all over again next match, and repeat, repeat.

Its down to the players and if they care about their careers and playing football every week, or if they just care about the ££s. I think you are right we are stuffed, as judging by this season it appears to be the latter.

Most are young pros I can't see sitting in the stands for a season on L1 wages is going to be attractive to them, when they've got their whole careers ahead of them, unlike the Bennett's of this world who's probably a bit of a rarity anyway.

League two wages, relegation paycuts coming into play. Joey will be able to bring in three decent League two players from the money Bennett is on.

Relegation was obvious but I fear this is only the start. We've a decent training ground, seemingly decent manager, a large home support and will pay decent L1 wages, how many other L2 clubs can better ? I doubt the likes of present L2 local clubs Cheltenham, FGR and Newport would be more attractive when players are weighing up their options next summer. The bigger issue is will Wael back Barton to move away from his "vision" back to a far more experienced squad?

How many 3rd managers do you know who have turned a side around without a window? Perhaps But not being able to influence they squad, tactics, formation, commitment, at all? WTF has he been doing? Losing becomes a habit, that's what a lot of people in football say isn't it? I haven't checked the stats but after 2 managers you can safely say we had lost a fair few. Basically the rot had already set in. Its blinkered to look at each managers stats individually and not factor in the context of where we were in the season and which players were available. Apart from McCormick and the attacking side of Leahy, Barton has had less of our better players available, in addition to not having the luxury the other 2 had of changing personnel.

I have been a Rovers Fan for over 50 years ... Heaven knows how many games I have seen or how much money I have spent following my team .... I know many of you are the same.
In all those years though I can honestly say this is the first time I have truly disliked so many players in the same group .... Upson, Baldwin, Ehmer Westbrooke, Oztumer, Hanlan, Little, Harries , Kelly, Bennett, Barrett, Van Schitten Schotten, - Can’t stand any of them and I feel bad about it.
I see Kilgour, Williams , Daly, Ayunga, on the team sheet and think ... whatever - not great but if we have to have them so be it.
Only Rodman, Nicholson, Luke Mc , Anssi and latterly Leahy feel like real Gas players who get what we are about.
Desperately hope we rip up some contracts and get rid of the vast majority this summer.
