If Labour lose Hartlepool which the current polls indicate they will,is Starmer"toast",if they can't hold on to a previously solid seat, particularly when BJ is under considerable attack then what does that say about any chance of a Labour resurgence?

Hartlepool is a very Brexity place .... that idiot Tice even got over 25% there for what ever the party was called at the time ? Added to the Tory vote it always going to go that way. They’re not gonna suddenly start backing the liberal elite lefty remainer within a few months of getting the prize of brexit with all the wins its bringing. The red wall is the blue wall , metropolitan cities vote Labour . Everything has changed but give it time , when they start to realise that Brexit was a sh**e idea minds will slowly but surely change . Ps he needs some bloody policies !

Does anybody know what labour stands for right now, in concrete policy terms?
This is the issue. When Hartlepool is lost Starmer will have to come out fighting and take the gloves off.

[br He’ll never win by trying to chase the Brexity vote in those areas as he’ll never beat them at their own game . The sooner he starts calling out what a sh** show it is the better . Ffs he even got the Labour Party to back the deal in the HoP

Les,No is the answer to your question, criticising the government is ok as part of a strategy but only part and starts to wear thin with voters ie: looks like constant moaning. Let's hear the alternatives/options,I want to be inspired,I want a vision of the future,I don't think Starmer has the personality or rhetoric to deliver that, too much a lawyer.

Trouble is Labour is two parties in one , Starmer & co and the harder left. Constant infighting and people still calling for a return of Corbyn . They’ll never get elected whilst they appear so dysfunctional. Blair got into power and was left of centre ( called Tory light ) , but he got into power. You can have the most radical policies in the world but if you don’t get elected it means naff all. IMO the only way to defeat the Tories is to have an alliance of all the left leaning parties who show a united front . It’ll never happen ! 😂

I think Labour elected the wrong candidate to win in 2024, they are probably at the Neil Kinnock stage after Corbyn's Michael Foot. He is not who the Northern Labour voters are after, too London centric without the natural charm and charisma.
It's sad to say but in today's personality politics Labour needs someone who is seen to be more 'in touch' if they want to win back the red wall seats.
Still time for him to grow into the role, but I suspect the knives will be sharpening especially by those on the left of the party. Not sure who I'd see replace him, probably someone like Lisa Nandy although I can't see her as PM. Dan Jarvis would be good but I think he has other plans at the moment.
