No, it's because its a more expensive risk this time (i would assume) he is on Champ wages, and whilst he may have to take a cut, someone will be willing to pay more than the risk is worth to us I think Maybe if he struggles to find a club, we come back in for him later in the summer with reasonable wage and goal/appearance bonuses. Doubt we'll get that chance tho, Won't all clubs access the risk and then offer him a deal accordingly? Yes I'd imagine so. My feeling is we wont be offering enough/the most as we are league 2 club and are rightly nervous of paying out for crocked players after this year. I'd love to see him play again, just dont think it will happen and cant argue that we should risk it.

That pivotal goal v the Daggers softens my heart but we just cannot afford the poor mans Darren Anderton here (in the injury sense )
We patched him up when we arrived, we got the absolute best from him but he wasn’t even available regularly at his peak with us
We can’t risk it IMO
Shame tho he’s a fantastic player

If you look at his record before and after being with us, we clearly were lucky enough to have the best of Bodin:
(League only) 2010-15 (pre Rovers - mainly league 2) 111 games, 14 goals 19 games per season, a goal every 8 games
2015-2018 (with the Gas, league 2/league 1) 95 games, 35 goals 38 games per season, a goal every 3 games
2018-2021 (post-Gas, Championship) 39 games, 3 goals 11 games per season, a goal every 13 games
Injuries will definitely have blunted his speed and he won’t be the same player, but he is undeniably technically gifted. I don’t think we can take a chance on him unless he accepted a big wage cut and a short term deal, which I’m not sure he would just yet in his career. I wonder whether he might end up back at Swindon eventually, with his Dad’s legendary status there? He deserves to have a good end to his career, wherever he ends up.

On standard league 2 wages in line with others in the team as a starting point.
Having Nicholson and Bodin competing for the same spot would be good. It would reduce the game minutes for both players and so hopefully keep both fresh and at their best.
