Based on: View AttachmentI make it: 9 aged under 21 (inc. Ollie and Lucas who are still negotiating) 17 aged 21 or over So we have 5 slots available over 21 if we don't loan/sell/terminate anyone else I was thinking we need a minimum of 8 first team standard players.

Same... at least I think we need 7 another keeper (1) a well 'ard CB (1) a pair of dynamic full backs (2) a decent controlling DM (1) a quality box to box CM (1) a bagsman at CF (1)

Frosty: A squad limit of 20 is in place, despite the withdrawal of the salary cap. However, Rovers will be allowed 22 over-21 players next season. Such an allowance is made to clubs relegated from League One. The present EFL rules only refer to relegated Championship clubs being allowed 22 players next season not relegated L1 clubs? 43.9 Squad Lists 43.9.1 Clubs shall be permitted to name up to a maximum number of Players in their Squad List based on the following provisions: (a) in respect of Championship Clubs, 25 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player; (b) in respect of League One and Two Clubs: (i) in Season 2020/21, 22 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player; and (ii) in Season 2021/22 and each subsequent Season, 20 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player. The limit set out in Regulation 43.9.1(b)(ii) increases to 22 for any Club relegated into League One, for its first Season following relegation. Although the PFA are threatening to take the ELF to arbitration again if they do try and restrict squad sizes next season. www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12269392/pfa-threatens-efl-with-arbitration-over-squad-size-limits-for-2021-22-campaign

Since none of these are homegrown how can they fulfill the championship squad restrictions??

The 'homegrown player' needs to have been registered with an English or Welsh club for three seasons before he is 21.

Homegrown refers to a minimum time spent affiliated to a team in England and Wales between certain ages, they could come through any youth setup to qualify, not just our own.

If it's limited to 20 players excluding goalkeepers . Then we will only be able to sign 3_4 players based on our current squad . I work it out we got 16 players over the age of 21 but it would be useful for someone to update squad age and capacity .

I was forgetting that some clubs look more towards foreign shores than they do the playing fields of E & W.

I was forgetting that some clubs look more towards foreign shores than they do the playing fields of E & W. To be fair to Brentford they are very active on these shores and even looking in non-league to recruit. They currently have a number of players on trial and this season gave a first team debut to 17-year-old Fin Stevens who they signed from Worthing.

There was recent negotiation between the EFL and PFA which meant the limit of 20 due for this season was scrapped in place of the new rule across Leagues 1 and 2; for up to 22 players older than 21, excluding goalkeepers.
I'm not sure whether it's been formally announced, but some CEOs have clearly linked it to local news outlets who have been reporting it over the past few days.
