The hosts were ignorant of "soccer" generally and agree they were a bit over-the-top and annoying in places, but they had obviously done their research on Barton's misdemeanours... and I personally thought it was quite an interesting listen (and I definitely don't read The Beano or The Sun  ) |

Very interesting insight into him, more complex than "the thug tag" he undoubtedly has, I think he will do well for us.

I've done most of them now, pretty decent, he certainly has spoken with a diverse group and that can only be positive in helping to understand mindset and behaviors around performing at an elite level These were done in 2018 and you can hear that it has shaped the way he speaks now and the level he expects of his team |

The Robbie Fowler podcast was ok. JB must be a gift for a presenter because he is very open and happy to talk. They only had to ask him a question and he’d answer it and more. That might have been something to do with him feeling fairly comfortable with the host and Robbie F. He was refreshingly honest about some characters in football. But the thing I took from it was how JB had to really think about answering the question “Who was the person who always stood up for you when you were young?” He said Arthur Cox and a youth coach but I thought he struggled to come up with Cox and I took from that that JB really fought his own battles and achieved what he did without having anyone really fighting his corner.
