Any of those with court experience able to explain why nothing seems to have happened yet? They’ll be breaking for lunch soon. Thelawpages website is a good source. appears this has what has been happening and there is a glossary of terms. not comprehensive detail, but some idea Details: Trial (Part Heard) - Interpreter Sworn - 10:10 Trial (Part Heard) - Reporting Restrictions. For details please contact the Court Manager - 10:16 Trial (Part Heard) - Case adjourned until 11:05 - 10:53 Trial (Part Heard) - Resume - 11:04 Trial (Part Heard) - Legal Submissions - 11:23 Trial (Part Heard) - Case adjourned until 12:15 - 12:04 **Legal Submissions - Legal technicalities are under discussion either within the court (where the jury may have to be removed) or the chambers. The Prosecution and/or the Defence Counsel may be addressing the judge. Under some circumstances the public may be denied access to the court until the submissions are complete.

Any of those with court experience able to explain why nothing seems to have happened yet? They’ll be breaking for lunch soon. We had two mornings of delayed starts in one trial...and I was the cause of one of them! The first delay was whether some of the police evidence was admissible or had to be ruled out under a law technicality. The barristers and the judge debate this in chambers not in open court. The ruling went in favour of the defence and no one attending the court ever heard what that evidence was. When cases are tried locally with a random selection of jurors there is always the possibility that a juror might know someone involved in the case. You have to disclose this to the clerk of the court who raises it with the judge who decides whether the trial can proceed or not, I had a brief interview with the judge as a result. In this case I went to school with one of the policemen who recorded a statement. As I had not seen him in 22 years and he wasn’t due to give evidence himself it was decided there was no influence on the trying of the case so after an hour or so the court reconvened.

Obviously it would be wrong to rush these things since a person's liberty is at stake, but it doesn't help that they start late, take a healthy 90 mins for lunch and finish up by 4pm. Don't think some of the older judges could cope with longer hours, and the barristers need to get back in chambers billing their clients very large amounts. I guess it’s for the jury as much as the judges. I imagine you get a cross section of society and therefore need to consider the needs of those who may have greater needs than others.

Mr Goldsack, the prosecutor, has begun by asking Stendel a number of questions relating to their first meeting as managers during a match in September 2018.
He asked Mr Stendel if he had any contact with Joey Barton following Barnsley’s win at Fleetwood Town’s ground.
He replied by saying after the match Barton shook his hand firmly.
He added: “It was a very firm handshake. It wasn’t a normal handshake. It wasn’t a friendly handshake, it was an aggressive handshake.”
Stendel said there was an “aggressive look” at the same time as the handshake.
...... sounds like Joey is a master of the dark arts of the Chinese Burn.

What’s worse? A limp handshake or a bone cruncher?
I like my handshakes somewhere in the middle.
Or these days, via the fist or elbow.

This is all getting very serious. Knocking someone’s teeth out is one thing but an ‘aggressive handshake’ is a game changer. What is the minimum sentence if found guilty of the aggressive handshake offence? Are there different sentencing guidelines depending on the firmness of the grip? I think we’d better start looking for a new manager as JB could be facing a 10 stretch! 😂

Surprised Stendel needs an interpreter based on this video. When was this interview? I only ask as I can see two teeth in situ. I thought JB had sent them all flying in to space.

The match has now got more competitive as Bartons team has a go...
Daniel Stendel asked about his grasp of English Mr Csoka began by asking Stendel if he gave interviews in the English language after matches in 2019.
Stendel replied by saying he tended to give simple interviews and that his assistant would help him.
Mr Csoka then said he believed Stendel’s English by 2019 was actually “quite good”.
Stendel said he could speak about football in English but didn’t have a good general understanding of the language.
Mr Csoka suggested Stendel knew a lot of words in the English language.
He said that Stendel went on to manage Scottish side Hearts and that his English is now of a good level.
