If we have fringe players in need of experience Mehew, Hargreaves, Hoole, Phillips etc why not get TW to do deal and loan some to Swindon.
Obviously you would expect Swindon to have a poor season but this should help some of the youngsters grow up fast as well as getting much needed game experience.
No doubt not many players will want to go there on permanent contracts until they get taken over.
I wonder if the sink or swim start for the Bolton youngsters a few seasons ago helped or hinder their own individual progress.

Loan our youngsters out to a league rival so they can either have their confidence destroyed by having a bad season or do well and cause us detriment?
Errr ... no thanks.

The arrogance of this post.
Judging by the season we have just had, our first aim must be to get a foothold in this division and not get pulled into another scrap. Strengthening a rival would be stupid. It’s not our job to help them.
2014 has proved that we are not too big to go down from this division. There are plenty of better run clubs than rovers in league 2.

No arrogance meant.
If Hoole played 10 games including Papa Johns for Swindon, wouldn't that be better than 20 games in national league south?
Our recent loans history isn't great - Tomlinson two sub appearances at Torquay, Hoole a few games in the southern league. Phillips hardly got a kick on loan at Chippenham and the other young striker never played at Cardiff Uni.
At least there would be a chance of competitive games at Swindon.
I didn't mean 7 or 8 players all go together.
Hulberts loan is looked on as a success but the standard was not great.
Zamora had good loan spells at Bath and Brighton - more fool us of not bringing him back, but how many of our youngsters have been on loan to league clubs recently?
Most are of an age where they need to play league football.
If Hargreaves had the chance to play at Exeter, would we say no cos it might demoralise him, or he might do well for a rival?
Surely it would benefit us in the long term as they can get the much needed experience they are unlikely to get in hopefully a promotion push with us?
Didn't DC say Broom would have had a look in but we couldn't risk it. If he went on loan to Cheltenham the season before, we could have kept him or sold him rather than not really knowing if he could have made it and let him go on a free.
I would have thought TW should be looking to get players out on league 2 (rivals - sic) or National League at a minimum.

National League for now; review for next window. Absolutely, then they can go to a struggler (assuming we’re pushing for promotion) and hopefully help them get results against the upper sides and have a clause that they can’t play for us.

Try Milk on your Cornflakes instead of peach schnapps … Anyway I am sure the Gypsys from South Bristol will lend them players especially if it can do damage in any form to their nemesis BRFC!!

I fear you’re right there. Spite filled and vile. I used to think well of Lansdown until the in years to come no one will talk of Bristol Rovers then going out of his way, aided by the player & agent, to derail a promotion possibility

On watching the game against Melksham, players like Hoole and Mehew could play a part in our first team next season, if only in the cup games,we should give our own a chance rather than bring young players in from other clubs that are no better than what we have , which happened last season and turned out to be a disaster, as well as costing the club money we can I'll afford, the money spent bringing in young players we didn't need last season could have been used to sign a couple of key decent players, like a target man. There are probably 4or 5 of our own youngsters that should be in and around the first team this season.

If they cant force their way in now they never will so what's the point in having them? Seems all the better ones get sweeped up by Premiership vultures before they can kick a ball in anger for the gas anyway..
