You do feel sorry for the lad, but we aren't a charity. If he cant stay fit he is a waste of a squad space That is the problem with players that don't keep themselves in the right physical condition, more susceptible to picking up injuries. Very true, I do wonder how much responsibility the club has for this though. A number of players have left us and a few months later are looking in better shape than we ever had them in.

Westbrooke only played 32 games for Coventry. How many games of those did he play the full 90 minutes for? (answer - not many) He was a good player for Coventry and linked to Championship sides/the majority of Cov fans wanted him to stick around. Michael Kelly when at Rovers was linked with West Ham and Crystal Palace and yet he's now at Eastleigh. Perhaps their agents both talk a good game.

Not according to Wikipedia or Soccerbase he didn't. Goodnightirene1883 above posted his stats for his last season at Coventry. Over 2 seasons - 32 starts and 9 sub appearances. That adds up to 41 👍 Yes...over 2 seasons and not all starts, leagues games or full 90 minutes. He played more games last season for Rovers than he did over 2 seasons at Coventry.

Owen who got a lot of hamstring injuries? Are you saying he was unfit?

The Prem links for Kelly were laughable at the time too to be fair.

Hasn't he apparently lost a load of weight over the summer, if he has then I'm not sure what else he can do to try and get into shape? Although it's really anybody's guess if he has picked up another hamstring injury or is just trying to line up a deal elsewhere, as it does seem JB's looking for a complete clear out of most of BG's signings.

He has lost a lot of weight and got himself looking fit. That is when you are most prone to hamstring injuries though. As if you’re a bit quicker and slimmer, your hamstrings will stretch more than they are used to. I’ve pulled my hamstring a few times and it’s always been, when I have been feeling fitter than ever. That’s why I feel sorry for him. From the outside it looks like he gets injured, comfort eats and puts on some weight. Then when he works hard and loses the weight, he gets injured again. Hopefully he just has tight hamstrings and he hasn’t pulled one again.

Are you saying he was unfit? No, I'm saying that if you don't keep yourself in peak physical condition you are at greater risk of suffering injuries.

Same as the OP isn't it, or have I missed something?

Stay in shape might help. Let's face it most of us would want a clear out of most of BG's signings. Those players finished 5 points adrift at the bottom of the table. Everyone of those signings might be good players but for us the vast majority were utter dross and heartless.

Always thought that was fake news and the EP had confused our Michael Kelly with Lloyd Kelly of the @hit who was sold to Bournemouth for allegedly £13m.

Had Lloyd Kelly been at Rovers we would have got £20k and a box of Walkers Crisps for him

Got to wonder if we will have room for Barrett and Westbrooke, looks like we have quite a packed midfield. Or a lot of strength in depth. strength? Wouldn't call those 2 players that, I'd be happy to see the back of them personally, I think they are both week links Strength in numbers rather than quality necessarily

Very true, I do wonder how much responsibility the club has for this though. A number of players have left us and a few months later are looking in better shape than we ever had them in. Apart from Lambert, who moved to a bigger club, I can't think of many who looked obviously fitter? You just sense last season Garner was totally out of his depth.

BG had a break when his daughter was poorly then Covid brought everything to a halt.We gave him a clean sheet for the beginning of the next season but he was still totally dreadful ,out of his depth and responsible for our embarrassing final league position and goal drought. He appeared to have little or no authority and was quite hopeless.
