Following on from the Telegraph 'Britain is sleepwalking into a state of perpetual Covid tyranny' article... Dr Colin Axon, Mechanical Engineering, not sure an engineer is best placed to comment on the effectiveness of wearing a mask, or I'm missing something? He sounds a bit of a crank as he wants all controls lifted and even mass testing withdrawn, so basically let COVID run rampant across the UK uncontrolled. Do you really support those views Pirate, if so, do you never leave the house? Just as relevant as the Communist crackpot behaviour change psychologists within SAGE advising on lockdowns and vaccines then. If Axon wants mass testing withdrawn he probably understands the false-positive problem. Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter said the “huge danger” with Boris Johnson’s “Operation Moonshot” project – which would see millions of UK-wide tests carried out daily – was that there would be a “very large number of false positives”. He was right.

So i have just come back from the British GP...what a day out that was.
So we were checked 3 times before entry that we had passed a lateral flow test which had to be taken less than 48 hours before entry was granted. If you were there for the weekend you had to have a test every day of the event.
I was surprised to see no one hardly wearing masks but there was no mandate you had to. I personally did, had a very enjoyable day and wearing a mask sat in the grandstand in no way compromised the enjoyment of the day. I dont see how wearing a mask for 90mins is going to upset any enjoyment factor and same too for taking a flow test to enter the ground.

Hardly anybody wearing masks..so you see the majority are "selfish" according to the forum covid enforcers. The testing is the key bit. If you've tested and checked and aren't ill, the mask does what? Other than allow you to taste your own breath. Seriously considering applying for tickets to one of the events next year.

[br I am not sure if our players will be able to hear my muffled shouts of anguish if I wear a mask

It was a carnival atmosphere there all day. We had a great time A bit too hot for my liking with no cold pool to jump in to but it was great result and a race that had a bit of everything. I agree to a point re the mask, but I can’t help but think there were some dishonest testers there who were positive but wanted to go. Maybe not but I have a distrust of the human race in general so took no chances. But that was a personal choice.

I think that is it, people should wear a mask if it makes them feel more comfortable ans I have no issues with anyone who wants to continue wearing them, the same as I don’t expect people to have a problem with me if I am not wearing mine. I haven’t got involved in this thread as it is just another point at the moment which is causing massive divisions and unnecessary abuse toward other people of a different opinion. I have not had my vaccine, for my own reasons but I am in no way an anit-vaxxer, and I am willing to wear a mask and prove a negative test result before entering the mem to watch the rovers play if that is what the club ask of me. Out of interest as I’m not sure how it will work in match day, but how will we prove a negative test result? I really want to take my son next Saturday as he has missed the football massively but not sure on how I go about going without having my vaccination TIA

Regarding British Grand Prix, I notice all the drivers, team crew and officials were still wearing masks, guess they are concerned at the financial/sporting loss if people get Covid so are still taking sensible precautions. Pretty sure the scientists will be looking at post event infection - will provide a useful data set, we are all pretty much lab rats at present.

Easy.
