Don't know how much truth there was in it, but heard that Manchester United were scouting Simon Bryant (and Nathan Ellington) following the 2-2 draw in Lee Martin's testimonial. Bryant didn't play that night, but would later make his debut and become a regular at 16. This is true. I used to read the Sunday times back then and there was an article about the top 5 youngsters in the football league. Simon was in it and it referenced what you have just said. Brilliant player. I remember one newspaper saying clubs should not shy at paying £1 million for him. |

Remember when we had a young Bristolian midfield of Hogg, Bryant and Plummer.
That was the future I thought.
Sadly didn’t work out that way.
