Parts of North America and Greece are burning, other areas of the world are under water due to flooding. Whilst we are apparently one of 5 countries that could be okay, we will not be immune and the effects could cause a rise in conflict and human migration. Regrettably I know there are still plenty who deny either the whole notion or that it is somehow a natural phenomenon and humans aren't affecting the planet. We are hosting COP 26 later this year and the IPCC report has just been published. The latest report shows that it is highly likely that humans have caused climate change. Key points; Global surface temperature was 1.09C higher in the decade between 2011-2020 than between 1850-1900. This isn’t a wind up, but I would genuinely be interested to hear pirate views on climate change and whether he believes it’s real, without all the Twitter posts though  I know there’s a big movement in the US about it being a ‘natural cycle of the earth’. Trump himself didn’t believe in it right? I’m pretty confident that we’re screwed, we won’t turn it around. |

Just to add my 2 pence worth on this..... whilst I believe the earth clearly has natural cycles of climate change evidenced by world ice ages and then the earths' natural warming after the ice ages is it totally impossible for the earth to be going through a natural cycle? I believe no it's not, however I do believe this change is also being influenced by and perhaps speeded up via Co2 emissions. What I would like to see is Greta Thunberg rather than get on her soap box and preach to the likes of the UK, who produce minuscule amounts of CO2 compared to the top five, go to China, Russia, USA, India and Japan and preach to them. Unless these top 5, especially China,are prepared to do something drastic to reduce their emissions then what are we to do. The UKs reduction alone won't change a thing. |

So rather than try and change , adapt and move with the times it’s easier to lash out and attack so they can keep on driving their big cars , taking their multiple flights etc etc . |

Based on the scientific data and analysis we have, it’s kinda impossible tbf. But as OB mentioned, it doesn’t matter really - what’s vital is that we do something either way to ensure our survival, surely? |

I’ve been saying for a while we should have a flying quota , no more than 6/7 flights allowed every 5 yrs .
I think I’ve had one flight ( to Kos last summer) in the last 5 yrs . We drive to France most summers for our holidays . We could easily have jumped on a plane from Bristol to Toulouse but we choose to drive instead , partly for costs but mostly for environmental reasons and just because we can .
