Clarke-Harris ChargedIs it me, or has the world gone mad to charge JCH with comments he made online when he was only 18 years old? Also, who trawled through 9 year old social media posts to root out those comments? I'm pretty sure when I was a teenager (thankfully well before social media!) I would have made comments I would now be ashamed of.

Don't suppose there is any chance Peterborough will sack him so that we can sign him again.

I am sure some people will just run a search containing a list of slurs against high profile "blue tick" accounts to see who they can get in trouble (or, in this case, maybe an aggrieved opposition fan?) The most surprising thing is that JCH hasn't scrutinised his own social media account and deleted anything offensive already.. or just purged the lot if there is a risk of controversy buried in there.

Pretty sure this has happened before too, with other footballers punished for comments they've made over a decade before when they were barely out of school. People change and views change with life experience and maturity. What's the point in taking the knee etc if we don't believe people can grow? Of course he's made a mistake in A) making the comments and B) not deleting them from his Twitter account.

Yet another reason why not to be a twitterer, Facebooker or any other social media channel user. Mods, time to shutdown the forum!

Is this about when he told Gasheads to lay off Tom Nichols because they had a partnership that had not only kept us up from certain relegation but had gone on the following season to take the Gas up to 4th in the league yet the majority of our support spent more time moaning about the quality of football on show and how Nichols didn’t score many goals than they did enjoying our best form in decades ? Even though.... we.... were.....4th..... in..... league ....1. Moaners. Be careful what you wish for.

If he was under age when he said it, I might agree. But he was an adult, he was a footballer and posted comments presumably about homophobic men/women. The report suggests there were multiple comments too.
I doubt the charge is very much, but rules are rules.
He hasn't lost his job, he's had a slap on the wrist - and rightly so. If someone was to make comments about sexual orientation, sexism, racism etc. then we have to show that this isn't acceptable anymore.
People only change their perceptions when they get called out on it, when society tells you something is bad. Its the same when racist comments were 'allowed'. No doubt racists were complaining that 'you can't say anything anymore'. But when people stand up to it to say you can't do it anymore, then finally perceptions will change.
