Tilly has deleted her account. Jeez, that's terrible. I don't know her personally but she always posts as a sensible, well liked and balanced poster. If she's quit because of the obsessive vitriolic posting of one mod in particular then it's high time he's reigned in and chucked out! Too many occasions of overstepping the mark from his position of responsibility in my opinion. It seems I didn’t put a very good case for being a moderator - probably had a lucky escape there , to be honest" It doesn't sound to me Tilly quit due to the mods? |

I could suggest some (few) posters act more grown up and mod themselves,rather than trying to wind people up, then there would be less of a need for mods to step in. The majority of posters do post with good humour and balance. Mods are posters first and foremost. |

I think a lot of people think I have it in for mods - I really don't - I've met Hugo and, as I know where he lives, he will confirm I'm not a bad old stick. But - to me, the forum is not owned by the few and is owned by all of us. The process here does not seem very democratic - Tilly said in one of her posts that she asked to be one. One of the few female members that regularly posts and was, for what ever reason, not permitted to join this fine band of men. And that's the point - Who decides ? It has been since the start the same old names who hold office without any known process for the role. There have been disagreements with mods and when this happens they stand together or, like Cesar, dish out punishment without even consulting each other let alone the forum. I guess what I am saying is that this is not a democratic place. Does it need policing ? of course but accountability and transparency should be part of this forum. I respect that Midsomer, and you’re correct none of us own it. This platform is all of ours, which is why it hurts when Tilly or 4thusername decide to call it a day, because it feels like part of the forum goes with them. I’m genuinely upset about it because I admired them both as posters. It also upsets me that there are suggestions that this place is going down hill. Trust me I’d do everything to make that not happen because I spend a lot of time on here and enjoy the place and the people on it. Back in the day when this place was new, a few of the original regulars were entrusted to mod the forum. Over time a few of them stepped down or decided to stop posting and to replace them, we’d either have an application process or send invites to a few posters after discussion between mods to ask them whether they’d consider moderating. I received a message about becoming a mod about 18 months ago, I wasn’t sure about it at first because sometimes it feels as if being a mod on here places a target on your back, but I accepted because I had previous experience moderating on other sites and I was happy to help out. Now if there was some democratic way of moderating the forum, believe me I’d be in favour of it. However the truth is we are always busy dealing with incidents on here and if we started a poll every time we had to decided on something, it would detract massively from what this forum is about, our passion for Bristol Rovers. The mods we do have are diverse in both opinions and age and I feel constitute a good sample of the posters on here. I respect each and every one of them, they’re all great people. I’ve supported RoverDrive because having modded with him for a year and a half and having interacted with him on here even longer, I know that he’s a nice bloke who’s secured a bit of an unfair rap in my opinion. If he clearly did something that I didn’t agree with, I’d speak up about it, I promise. To me, it’s no surprise that we’ve had fallings out on here over the past 6-12 months. Society as a whole has become very polarised about a number of topics and with Joey Barton being the controversy that he is, that brings an added layer of debate to this place. I sincerely hope we can get back on track when the season begins with the footy and the Barton situation being resolved one way or another. Further feedback is always welcomed. |

I’m always open to suggestions on how it can be improved either by response on here or via PM’s. We had a cracking thread started by Bluestickgas on here the other day about treating others views and opinions with politeness and respect. I do agree that this could be exercised a little more frequently at times. |

Coming from a mod, along with other members seeing posts being pulled up for less is it any wonder the moderating is called into question? Comes across as Do as we say not do as we do. This whole subject is very polarising and a lot of strong views are held. I think every single poster will agree is that if JB is found guilty of domestic violence then he should be sacked. Before that there is division, some think he should be sacked or suspended immediately and others think he should continue until the verdict is known. The club have made their decision and look unlikely to change their minds - that probably needs to now be respected now and we all get on with supporting our team. I think everyone has made their views clear and prolonging it among ourselves is going to cause more disharmony and resentment. |

Had a look through (briefly I'll admit, there's a lot of pages), but no sign so far of where I've stayed anything as fact? I said "IF" on page 1,called him a thug which with his list of past convictions is certainly not libelous. It seems if you have a difference of opinion from the pro Barton brigade they'll try and bully you in to submission. Won't work unfortunately. |

If you want to leave that’s up to you, but I’d urge you to reconsider as your presence is wanted on this forum. This is why I don’t like threads like these as it just pits posters against each other, when really we have more in common than we think. |

I deleted my account last month. Then that evening settled back with a bottle of Lidl's cheapest red wine to read all the moving tributes to me.

So I quietly rejoined, and, thankfully, no-one noticed.
