First half was good..only going to be one winner and that was Rovers. The sending off seemed in Rovers favour and likely to lead to gaps that could be exploited. 3 or 4 nil looked on the cards. Then a high bounce..2 players facing away from goal stretch out a leg to the side to try to reach the ball. The barrow mans foot makes contact and it goes in the top corner. Total fluke of a goal, that changed the game. Barrow could then have 2 banks of 4 sat deep Allowing no space then try to hit rovers on the counter when things broke down. Maybe if there is no space try some long distance shots (on target) and look for rebounds and spills ? Still its 4 points from 3 games. Promotion form plays on the average of 2 pts/game. Based on win at home and draw away. So the target would have been 5 points from those 3 games. So not as catastrophic as the panickers are making out. A balanced view and you are right. Having backed Barton through this window and having sacked manager after bloody manager over the last 19 months I say we stick with him for at least a few more games. A new manager coming in now wouldn’t have any time before the window shuts to do anything anyway and Barton obviously knows the players he’s signed. Wael hasn’t been afraid to get rid when things have gone wrong or even right perhaps ( Coughlan ) since DC and it’s gone from bad to worse in that time. I understand people calling for Barton’s head I really do but let’s say he’s sacked tonight ? What then ? We sign another manager. We say let’s give him a transfer window and 15 -20 games with his own players don’t we ? Well we didn’t give Barton that if we sacked him tonight did we ? The window is as good as gone now it’s over Barton for a while . Obviously if we get to the end of September and we’re still in the position we are now then Barton’s time is up because he’s had that window and a run of games with his players. Now would be jumping the gun.I understand that point of view, I really do.
But the way I see it, delaying it is just wasting time, wasting money on his new signings and wasting games and making it harder for ourselves. He's had 24 games. I don't accept those players were not his. He became the manager so they became his players. He therefore took over the responsibility for those players. If every new manager joined a club and decided to not bother trying and just give up on the remainder of the season because it's not his players, there would be carnage all over the place. Good managers can work with players regardless if they signed them or not. He has had 24 games to show what he brings to Bristol Rovers. 23 of those were league games. He has won 15 points from a possible 69 points so far. He has failed to win a single away game. He promised we would be the fittest squad in the league. We are no where near being fit let alone the fittest in the league! He promised we will be ready for the start of the season. 5 league games in, he says we still need another 5 players! He also promised us a team to be proud of. Well are you proud so far? Because I doubt many are. He moaned so much about the lack of strikers at the club last season yet we have far less now. He moaned about the lack of leaders on the pitch last season yet none of his signings are willing to stand up and be counted so far. He literally is the worse performing manager that the club has ever had. We were 19th In L1 when he came. So there were 5 clubs worse than us. He has managed to take us to 22nd in L2 - 90th out of the 92 league clubs, so the 3rd worst club in the country, in the space of 6 months and 2 of those months were the off season and pre season.
I admire the positivity and the want to keep giving him time. But we are actually getting worse and I think last seasons team managed by BG would sh** over this seasons team managed by JB to be honest. We are just wasting time, money and games to just deny the inevitable.

Come on Topper. You are better than that. Read my last 5 words that you quoted. I will even highlight it for you. Pretty obvious if we win games fans will be happy, if we don't then there's nothing to suggest Wael won't act, he hardly waited to that long before dismissing BG and PT. Not sure what sacking JB will do now with the window about to shut, as any replacement won't arrive until after the windows closed. So you didn't read the last 5 words then. Ok then.

Been doing that for two years and look where we are. Who do you suggest ? Managers always comes and goes. Why all of a sudden do with have to stick with the worst performing manager in our entire history just because we sacked 2 last season?
As for who I would suggest, it makes no difference because it ain't my job to bring in a manager. If I knew the budget available to poach a manager from a club or what wages I had available to offer a manager then I could give realistic names. But I obviously don't so have to leave that to Wael. Hopefully though, the next appointment won't divide the fan base as much for starters.

Does anyone really know what to do? We sack managers and it makes no difference, they actually go on and do better at other clubs. We buy players with good reputations and they look awful. What do we actually do? I have no idea at the moment. we sound like debenhams. That went well

The answer to your first point is we dont, however regardless of any of our opinions do you honestly see us making a change after hearing we're bringkng in another 4 or 5 players before the window closes ?

This line from the post match press conference irked me in particular. He makes it all about himself. “I’ve got my professional life at stake here because if I can’t get Bristol Rovers promoted out of this division, I’m not going to get the top jobs I want, I’m not going to get to work up the food chain for these big clubs, so I’ve got a lot invested.” Did he genuinely say this? Have you got a link to it? Should be sacked tonight if so.

The answer to your first point is we dont, however regardless of any of our opinions do you honestly see us making a change after hearing we're bringkng in another 4 or 5 players before the window closes ? Managers say a lot of stuff in post match interviews, especially after a bad result or performance or both. Like JB said last week after just getting humiliated by Exeter that we will win promotion this season. Do you honestly believe we will win promotion this season? Just lip service of course and who knows, saying we are bringing in another 4 or 5 could be just a deflection from the poor performance again. Do you think we will bring in 4 or 5 players before the window shuts? I don't. He's been saying for weeks this window is very tough to sign anyone. But we'll see. Does Wael know JB wants another 4 or 5 players? You would hope so of course. In all fairness though, if this ain't lip service and he actually brings in 5 players, I doubt very much Wael will sack him straight away. We will just be stuck with poor results and performances for however long Wael takes to decide enough is enough. In the meantime we will just carrying on listening to the usual excuses that it will take until December but we will still win the league nonsense.

“It’s frustrating. I like winning games of football as a coach. I’ve been a lot more used to that than I have since I came to the football club, but you can clearly see that there have been long-running issues at the club; stuff that in my opinion has been really negligent and poor and certain departments."
And how he believes Klopp or Pep wouldn't have done any better than him at Rovers so far is completely unbelievable.
"If you put Klopp in this job, or Guardiola, and you give them the resources we’ve had, and the exit strategies of 28 players leaving out of 34, they wouldn’t take the job, because they’ve obviously earned the right not to do that, but I don’t think they would be able to turn it around quicker than we can.”
He is so far up his own backside that he could probably reach through and be able to brush teeth.

Really struggling to motivate myself to go to games at the moment and that isn't like me. Will probably go on Saturday, but club feels more divided than ever and general atmosphere around the place is terrible. Couple more poor performances and results and it could get very toxic at the Mem.

Did he genuinely say this? Have you got a link to it? Should be sacked tonight if so. When you think the levels of delusion couldn't go any further, he comes out with this. Blaming previous managers, no better manager to turn it around etc. WTF is he on? Just frightening how this guy is managing our football club. Equally frightening the levels of naivity to give him the job and allow him to sign his own squad. The disrespect to talk about getting big jobs at other clubs when he's won 4 of 24 games is just mind boggling.

“I only moved into my flat on Monday, I’ve been living out of the boot of my car for the last six or seven weeks, and we’ve had the same with players.
There are people in our society who struggle to find work and get housing.... Sadly for them they don't get much income compared to footballers.... Also they don't own multiple mansions.... Stop feeling so **** sorry for yourself....

He has had 5 games with this set of players....... Henbury, this is lower league management we're talking about. He had a team to work with for the 19 games previously and failed utterly miserably. He accepted the job and you work with what you have. You can't sweep that time under the carpet. Man management skills separate the great lower league managers from the rest.
