This is fast becoming a joke , absolutely no forward planning at all and as far as JB signing players to get off up out of our seats pffft !!! Just the same old talentless type of players we’ve become accustomed to since DC left. Still time to make this post that I’ve written look daft but i very much doubt that I’ll be eating any humble pie today ! Am I missing something or did we not lose £3m last year which our President has had to fund. Yet we still think we can splash oodles of money on league one/championship players even if they wanted to come and why would they. We need to face facts we are a small lower league club delivering losses year after year and we have to cut our cloth accordingly.

Isn’t that what Pitman is for? Past his prime but potentially able to score. Do we need a team of players who are only going to ply 30 games and for an hour max? I question the logic behind it too, certainly Pitman and Clarke wouldn't strike me as a very dynamic pair. Great ten years ago mind you. Was just saying don't write off Clarke just yet, as he could prove to be a handy forward. I’d say that Clarke would be behind pitman in the pecking order and not starting.

Rumours about Wrexham signing Ollie Clarke for 200k 😳 With Mullin on 10k or so per week it will be the only reason he goes there

Talk about Alfie heading out.
Disgrace if true, IMO.

That isn’t the point We should be looking to develop young players and coach them and develop players from our development squad We now look a shambles, scrambling around for cast offs, players with no sell on value and we will be back for another reset Tommy once boasted we worked several windows in advance Does it look like that to you?

Where have I said we should be ‘splashing out on league one / championship players’ ? I’ve also ‘faced facts’ that we are a small lower league club , in fact I learned that many many years ago but that’s absolutely no excuse to be so unorganised in identifying transfer prospects as many other lower league clubs seem to get on just fine , if you’re happy with how things currently are then good for you but I expect a hell of a lot better

Talk about Alfie heading out. Disgrace if true, IMO. One of very few in the current squad who plays for the shirt, and young enough to rediscover the form he showed under Coughlan. Awful news if true.

I've tried to be quite positive over the last few months - which we we can all agree has been difficult. But if we don't get the right business sorted today I think I'm going to be close to giving up 😓
Still, one more UTG for the road!
Let's get some faces in today and some points on the board come Saturday!

I’ve been told we’ve missed out on Archer Huddersfield after him.

Talk about Alfie heading out. Disgrace if true, IMO. Why is it a disgrace. One good season when marshalled by Tony Craig and no progression since. He is a good lad but for me has gone backwards and leaving could be the best step forward for his career.

Evans and Whelan seem like reasonable signings (Crewe and Morecambe fans seemed keen for Evans to sign permanently) Brown and Clarke are past it but could seemingly fill a gap in the squad, and Archer would be a great addition, though I would be reluctant to pin all my hopes on a young loanee. There’s no way Archer is coming. He has Championship teams after him and Villa are considering keeping him around the 1st team! From Sam Frost- I heard this morning Rovers were in the early running for Cameron Archer of Aston Villa a week or two back, but his hat-trick in the Carabao Cup on Sky has woken a few clubs up to him. If Villa do let him out on loan today, I'm told he could go to the Championship with Huddersfield Town among those asking questions about the 19-year-old. Bit of a sickener to miss out on that one, but little Rovers could do in that case.

That's a bit unfair. His last stint at Shrewsbury is really the only time he hasn't scored goals. Before that he's actually been quite prolific, scoring double figures in League Two, League One and the Championship. Obviously we're not getting him in his prime, but it's a bit unfair just to write him off. Get him fit and there could still be a player there. Have you checked his stats on Wiki before replying, he's only ever scored 15+ goals in a season 3 times in his long career and the last time that happened was in season 2017/18 As you've highlighted he had a poor season last season at Shrewsbury scoring only once in just 10 games.

Clarke had persistent hamstring injuries and a blood clot to his back last season. Whilst I would say that does go some way to explaining his poor goalscoring form, it also puts a red flag up in terms of signing him on anything other than a short term appearance based contract.
