Looks like Derby are approaching administration with a suspended points deduction likely to come into force and a further one on top. Almost certainly heading for relegation if that's happening. Calls on the government to help. "Nadine Dorries, the new culture and sport secretary, has promised to "take action" to prevent more football clubs going under after Derby County became the latest to get into financial trouble. She was responding to comments by Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville, who called on her to appoint an independent regulator to "stop this happening". Championship side the Rams, as Derby are known, are managed by ex-Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, but they could be deducted as many as 21 points..." news.sky.com/story/derby-county-culture-secretary-pledges-action-to-stop-football-clubs-going-bust-as-wayne-rooneys-side-face-points-deduction-12411058

No doubt in 3 or 4 years they will be back to where they are now - the big clubs never seem to suffer.

Aside from the owner's/clubs financial problems (and all the staff losing their jobs because of it), is it just me or is Wayne Rooney doing a decent job based on all the restrictions they've had to deal with over the last 18 months.
As far as I can see they've got rid of nearly all their high earners and have only been able to sign free agents (with huge restrictions on the wages they can pay and obviously many players won't want to take the risk of joining them for financial and/or sporting reasons)...
...despite all of that, without the points deduction they would currently be in 15th in the Championship, undefeated in the last 5 league games (including two draws against teams in the top six) and last season despite ups and downs in form he took them from bottom (and 5 points from safety) to safety on the final day.
If five years ago you'd have been asked to pick which current Man Utd or England player would i) take that job, ii) keep that job and not walk away and iii) get the results he's got (and to clarify, they're not a great team, not even a good team, I'm talking about the results vs all the problems out of his control) I doubt any of us would have picked Rooney.....
