I can take a Christmas Tree down, have it all packed away and back in the loft in 33 minutes. Blimey. How much do you charge? Interested. The key is to use a belt for the branches

Not really a way to encourage people by insulting them, is it? My post was not intended to insult ....apologies if was mistaken for that. We all know the BRSC have had lots of fans criticise it and such like and clearly there is scope to make things happen to improve the future BUT needs active volunteers and doers not just talkers thats my underlying point. Rovers fans engagement needs to be an effort by BRSC, Hergametoo, Gascast Young Pirates, Presidents Club, Blue Dimaond Club, Former Players Association,Bristol Rovers History Group etc The common goal or motive is to contribute skills from a fan base to make the matchday experience and such like as enjoyable as possible with a view to raising funds for The Youth Academy, Rovers Girls team a Club museum etc The supporters club needs to rid itself of the image among some that its a snooty old man's clique. Some people on here in the past have done a LOT of damage to its reputation and I don't think JCs recent history and his departing comments have been at all helpful. I noted with amusement, Saint Kens comment that the SC have done a lot for ALL fans, yet there have been people on here being smartarses and telling all and sundry that we were not even allowed an opinion on the SC because we were not members when what they should have been doing is listening to why people were critical and would not want to join. I appreciate that you said your post wasn't meant as an insult, but it came over as one and exactly like the snooty/holier than thou posts from other people in the past.

I would have taken it seriously had it not come from a bitter old man but there we are.

I'm at least encouraged by these words from David Thomas: "I truly believe that Bristol Rovers Supporters Club exists to serve every supporter of Bristol Rovers and I welcome dialogue from all supporters. If you have an idea or believe that you have something to offer the Supporters Club then please get in touch. We have to modernise I know that. Attracting the younger fan to our membership is something else I would like to address too, we know that some see us as stuffy. Let’s change that!"

Yeah I thought what he said was pretty good. It was certainly an olive branch. I’ve reached out to David to offer my congrats and to offer to meet him. Early signs are positive. He’s got a meeting with the club next week so once that’s out of the way I guess he’ll have the opportunity to engage with whomever comes forward. Best of luck to the guy!

I do not know about pod cast and the like, but years ago the club issued Pirate News which contained pictures of the latest merchandise - could a pod cast not go to the superstore with a (positive only) review of merchandise and leisurewear? This could increase Xmas sales.
I know the club spent lots of the video campaigns for season tickets "Step up" etc but as they could only be viewed on a link to buy a ST, I would imagine the only people who saw it werein the process of buying a ST anyway! In fact the club probably lost sales as a lot of older fans at 80+ were not written to and basically forgotten by the football club. Luckily not by the community trust though.
I think one of the comments on here shows that we need many ways to communicate and help the club and if a raffle makes £20 and pod cast advertising gets £500 it all helps.
I just hope that some volunteers do come forwardas not too many have been keen previously.

All other things aside, will this be available for Christmas? Yes we hope to publish in October. The book has been hampered like many other things with COVID restrictions getting into to research stuff in libraries and access to former team mates of Biggs etc. Final proofs being checked over the weekend and then it can hopefully go to print. Book will be £14.

I know he came across as a cantankerous old bugger, but Christ I never realised threats like that were being made to fellow Rovers fans.Unbelievable.

Perhaps he's been hanging around the training ground, might explain all those injuries.

Apparently he played pro football but I could never see his name listed against any first teams of pro clubs he said he played for. Bit of a legend in his own lunchbox I think.
