was he here when Mr Payne signed or was that down to Dc.Worst player I have seen in a Rovers shirt.Compare his attitude with the squad we have got now That was all DC. In fairness to TW he told him not to. If that’s true, it shows how DC unfortunately lost it a bit at the end with us. He got us to where he got us by signing hard working players with a good attitude. I guess the further we went, the harder it became to make uncomplicated signings but if he’d stuck with his guns and maybe been dealt a slightly better hand (remembering that Payne was basically a panic buy because we found ourselves with no number 9 and having lost three quality strikers in quick succession) then he might still be here now and we might still be in division one.

All managers make mistakes in the transfer market. Some might say DC had done enough with back to back promotions, highest average attendances in decades and a net profit in transfer fees to be given the chance to turn things around, obviously Wael thought differently.

Ah, the heady days when Wael sacked managers if he thought they couldn't get us into the Championship. Standards are rather lower now.

I’d imagine he got some sort of reference from his good friend Paul Hurst.

There was no way DC could remain as manager after his post Doncaster thrashing presser, as far as TW advising DC not to sign Payne, it's a bit odd that's never been suggested previously, although the Coventry player who turned us down for a move to Walsall did little better. It does seem TW's scouting network was probably non-existent.

Strange how Tommy has previously managed to help build a promotion winning squad at this level during his time as Head of Recruitment at Coventry then.

TW was only at Coventry for one season, did he really build an entire promotion squad in just two transfer windows? I always thought it a bit odd how we head hunted Coventry's HoR, the fact he failed with us and has now reverted to non league management probably explains why Coventry let him join us.

I think it’s fairly safe to safe DC wanted out by that time as he had become so disillusioned with the whole no progress on training ground and stadium situation. He engineered his own departure in the end.

I think it vital all within the fc sing from the 'Joe Barton Chorus'.
Afraid Tommy Widdrington never had a copy.
A good move for the man and Rovers.

But im worried you think JB has a blue print (Joe Barton Chorus) that we all have to sing from. I’ll just continue to support BRFC. 👍 UTG!

And yet didn't he also say that he worked 3 windows in the future or some such nonsense? Some such nonsense? He said he worked 2 windows ahead and surely you want the recruitment team to plan ahead and stay on top of contract situations and monitor future targets with proper due diligence? It's what any scouting network should do.

I think you misunderstood me. If he works 2 windows ahead then how is he responsible for improvement in just 11 months that would include a maximum of 2 windows? Wouldn't you expect to see his work start after 18 months That's the nonsense bit. Sorry I probably should have been clearer.

He's constantly watching players and planning ahead for various scenarios, so obviously when he joined Coventry he had a list of targets ready to go. A successful job done too with the 14 signings helping them get promoted.
