Hoping we at least give them a game and start to look a little more threatening with possession. A win and i'll still believe play offs possible, but if not a comfortable mid table with some good performances and scores will be needed to prevent calls for a complete overhaul. Best not start the season 22/23 thread yet though.... I suppose we are the underdogs for Saturday which might work in our favour. We need to up the energy levels and show a bit of character. The bookies actually have us as slight favourites for Saturday! Unfortunately I'm not in Bristol this weekend so I'll have to rely on the always balanced assessments on here.

My answer would be Harrogate. The game where they had more possession, double the amount of completed passes, more shots, more shots on target, more corners and more attacks/dangerous attacks? Personally I'm struggling to think of any impressive 90 minute performances this season tbh. Yet we created the best chances & could’ve/should’ve come away 3-0 winners. Funny old game!

I asked in another thread: in which match this season have we played really well. No one answered. My answer would be we haven't. I guess this is the thing with the recent upturn in form - the results have improved but IMO, other than Swindon (a) we haven’t put in a performance in the last 10 or so matches that makes me seriously believe we’re a top-7 standard side in this division. Our defensive record isn’t good and considering the quality we have in attacking areas, we don’t create or score enough. The fact we’ve only beaten one of the current top 10 in the league probably shows where we are as a side.

Did anyone else feel a sense of 'we've been here before', when the signings of Anderson and Nolan were announced on transfer deadline day?. BG loved signing left backs and it seems JB loves his midfielders. Meanwhile we are left scandalously short of experience at the back and even more short of genuine forwards who can lead the line. I have always questioned our managers lack of tactical nous and now its seems his squad building is just as bad. Still at least the clowns have left the club and we are now a well run football club.

The squad does feel very unbalanced now, to me. We badly needed 2/3 new additions to the defence in January over any more midfielders IMO.

I can't explain why but i feel strangely relaxed about the Mansfield game. Unlike the Oldham game, which i was quite concerned about, expectations are much lower now that play offs and promotion chances look very remote. I was concerned about the Oldham game because of talk of an easy 3 pts and 3 or 4 nil score lines, i do not think there will be any great expectation V Mansfield and hence it would be just like Rovers to confound every one by performing well and winning, hope so!

I feel exactly the same, I think we're gonna win this weekend. Praying they play OC because he will not be upto it.

Rarely any games where we have been comfortable though, but with a dodgy defence thats always going to happen

Yeah there are lots of games where we have been good in patches but never really had a totally controlled win. Scunthorpe would have been one but we even did our best to lose 2 points there. Mistake from Joey not to get an experienced CB and LB/RB in to steady it up imo, clearly was/is our weakest area.

Managers pre match interview,Loft not mentioned and have given up on Rodman. Loft still out with a back injury but I’m sure Joey said last week that he was a couple of weeks of, so possibly in contention next Saturday? Leon Clarke sounds like he might just about make the bench tomorrow or Tuesday. No idea about Rodman - was hoping he’d be back and give us a right wing back option.
