Some people aren't going to like this on here, but a Torquay fan's description of the first goal... Great win today, sounds a good performance too. Didn't expect 3 points, so hopefully we can extend the gap between us and Macclesfield on Sunday and get another win against Turkey. Will be a fantastic way to end the Christmas period, especially without Mildenhall, LDV etc. But will those who are quck to voice their critisism of Taylor (and DC) give any credit where it's due? Or fall silent until we next drop points?

On the whole I was pleased with the performance but am I the only one who thought that our finishing was woeful. On at least 4 ocassions either Gosling - who I thought was excellant on the whole - or Taylor cut in from the right and created a great goalscoring opportunity only to blast the ball over from about 12 yards out.
I accept that being a predator seems to be in -built - but surely they should be able to practice this technique. I notice that in the warm up they do practice with Marcus at hitting different corners but noone was pressuring them and this is different from getting a shot in under pressure.

The only bit of quality that we are missing is the ability to score goals and whilst I accept that you cant coach a sniffer type of goal scorer - you can surely practice shooting. If you looked at our shots on target today as a percentage I think that it will be really poor and their is no real excuse for that.
Malcolm Macdonald started life as a full back andwas hardly a sniffer but he used to practice shooting so that it became second nature .
We have a number of tough away games coming up and whilst I believe that we can win them , we have to be able to score when we are on top

Yep and who has been the biggest culprit of these missed chances? Did he score? When people say Taylor played well, did he score is your answer to everything. So he scored. Now its well he's missed a lot. I'm seriously thinking you actually want him to fail now so you can feel good about slagging him off.

Whenever he's played well and not scored the answer to all the Taylor haters is it doesn't matter if he played well he's there to score goals. He's our top scorer. I actually find T Bone quite entertaining as its good to have a plonker about to take the Widdle out of . Life would be boring without those kind of characters.

Had a brilliant day today.
We played very well, always looked the better side. Countered them extremely well but, as usual, the finish lacked. Taylor did brilliantly for his goal, everyone was urging him to shoot well before he did, he kept his composure and made himself the best opening he could. Trotman's header was great too, we looked dangerous from corners today, everytime we had one Torquay couldn't deal with it. Spiess was doing well up until he went up to punch the ball but miss connected and watched it roll into the net. He looked shaken afterwards.
Their keeper most definitely fouled Taylor in the box. How nothing was given I'll never know. Obviously it annoyed the travelling faithful off and he got abuse for the rest of the game. When they scored their second he went mental celebrating in front of us, even slid on his knees. His face when it was ruled out was priceless. He got so much poo for it. Hilarious. I'll be ribbing him for on New Years' Day too.
The fans who travelled were amazing too. In brilliant voice and all seemed to behave well, unlike a few Torquay fans who got themselves kicked out after Spiess' own goal. I love away games.

Its not Now its well he's missed a lot.I have been saying for a long time that he is nowhere near good enough for this team in this league. He is a poor striker.I have never said I want him to fail, because he already has on many occasions. I have also said that I have no problem if the crap striker proves me wrong. However I don't think that will happen.

Surely Akinde must move to a league club in January? Carry on like he his and he'll get 30+ goals!! hmmm. would they sell him though? and potentially ruin a promotion? Only 19 games left as well. re goals - he has 20 lge goals from 27 appearances, so if he stays an ever present, he's on track to score 34!

Life would be boring without those kind of characters. you might not like this tough love, but all of you need your heads banging together. 1) it's immature 2) it's like 2 bald men fighting over a comb. whilst we fight over '7 goal' top scorer Taylor, Barnet fans are laughing their socks off. 3) Life is NOT black and white. It is grey. Taylor is not the greatest player, but also not the worst. he's not sh**. he's not brilliant. He plays in the 5th tier. He is what he is. I'm not a Taylor 'hater' but I am consistently disappointed how the debate about him resembles a tennis match. If he doesn't score for 4 matches the 'haters' gain ground, and each time he scores people pipe up about how good he is and how he's proving the haters wrong. If I every hear that useless phrase 'he's due a goal', or even 'the floodgates will open', ever again I will string someone up. He's not due a goal. NO-ONE is due a goal. It's that sort of rubbish talk and bertie big bollocks approach that got us into non-lge. No-one has the right to score goals or be successful in footy just because of their general play, skill or our history. I think we can all agree his all round work is good, and his goalscoring is poor. '7 goals' just proves the old adage of 'lies, damned lies and statistics'. 3 are pens. 4 goals from open play and he's played nearly every game this season. Every fan who has watched him will effortlessly recall several very clear chances he has missed. And hopefully most will also recall some excellent touches and a good work rate. Defenders won't like playing him, but goalkeepers will.

Problem is Barnet have been in an higher game from virtually day one! Even if we don't catch them it looks like being any interesting few months. 1 - statistically not quite true. after 5 games we had 5 points, and they had 12. so in reality we've been pretty much the same since the the 6th game. 2 - very true. I think this could be quite exciting!

No, we'll praise his work-rate and over all contribution, as Hugo suggested. Unless he plays badly, which he rarely does.

Apparently so I like Taylor, excellent work rate and certainly adds to our attacking threat. Just a shame he isn't more consistent with his finishing, because if he was he'd be a 20 goal a season man. Might be a tad harsh, but he isn't the finisher that Clarkson was, for example. In fact if we could merge Taylor's workrate, fitness and general play with Clarkson's ability to finish, that would be fantastic.
