I had left before the "invasion" so I cannot refute that "youngsters" led the incursion; all I can report is that as I attempted to leave the Blackthorne at the final whistle the charge that barged into me (me being a 72 year old) were a group of stereotypical cartoonist football hooligans being fat, fifty, red faced and drunk. There were a few of those involved as well, although they did waddle down the pitch at a rather slower pace than the youngsters.

Surprised that so many of our fans are complaining about FGR fans coming onto the pitch to celebrate promotion when it’s absolutely guaranteed if we get promoted we’d be on the pitch at any league ground . I’m more annoyed by the response from some of our “supporters” personally. Neanderthals. Harsh lesson in life mate when you use social media to get on your soap box, don't be surprised when your opinion is not supported or agreed by all, human nature and all it will never happen. Opening yourself up for more ridicule labelling said people as Neanderthals, why do you feel that its your right to have that opinion and make it public, weather its correct or not?

As we speak 7 people have liked it. Whilst it not be supported or agreed by all it’s got a fair whack of support and until now you’re the first person to air any disagreement with it. What would you describe people whom invade the pitch to try and pick a fight with supporters of a rival club who’ve just earned promotion as if not Neanderthals? Because I honestly don’t understand why anybody of any reasonable age would consider that to be an appropriate way to behave. I think most football supporters would rather they didn’t come along to matches. It’s so unnecessary.

I guess anyone who invades the pitch is in the wrong, come on for any reason and your looking to provoke a reaction, again human nature comes into play, you can believe what you like but that will never change, for me it doesn't present a problem so long as its good natured! I stood and watched it unravel with my year old son from the Thatchers and if anything serious happened out there we both managed to miss it? 7-1 up I guess your of the higher opinion mate well done, look forward to the next debate, never afraid to be proven wrong or lose an argument, but will always play fair and hopefully come across as sensible with my opinions!

I’m not happy about the behaviour of the FGR supporters. It’s not their ground to be invading the pitch and we still have games to play. However their reasoning was pretty clear and understandable. Those running from the thatchers didn’t want to go and congratulate the FGR supporters. It was certainly not good natured. It looks bad for the club, tarnishes our reputation, and puts us at risk of fines. What possible ‘good natured’ reason could a gashead have in those circumstances?

Still can't believe the irony of the knights many of whom are known right-wing nationalists (English & proud BS), celebrating a man who was Turkish, while wearing the colours of our bitter rivals, you couldn't write this stuff, a hilarious new version of dumb and dumber!
I wonder how many of them realise that St George was not English if indeed he ever existed in the first place, life is rarely dull!

St Patrick wasn't Irish either. Can't comment about Santa, but there is definitely a Silicon Heaven. After all, where do all the calculators go? 😁

I can just about understand (but not like) overexcited 18 year olds running onto the pitch to confront the FGR massive who had invaded their turf. They mainly just hop around on the spot, at a close but safe distance, making strange sort of rapper gestures with their hands. It's the ones in their 50s and even 60s I don't get. I'm a member of that particular club, and I am ashamed that these old wannabe skinheads in their oxblood DMs and rather tight Harrington jackets think it's still the 1970s and 80s. What the f*ck is it with these people? What are they like as parents? Or even, god help us, grandparents? ?!!!!!

I’m presuming all those who are throwing a wobbly over the FGR fans celebrating on the pitch didn’t enjoy Blackpool in 1990 or D/R in 2016. Don’t be daft, football when you go up is about emotion and celebrating. Just as I hope we’ll do in two weeks time. Thank goodness the club didn’t stop the FGR fans from celebrating with their team. Now doing that would have been embarrassing.
Well done to FGR, I hope they enjoy their very best season, it’s going to get tougher next season. Don’t get the jealousy being shown on here against them. Tbh it’s a great story and if it happened to us we’d be all over it. County league to League 1 great credit to all involved including Mr. Vince. As for the millions invested in FGR, slightly ironic considering the millions Wael has lost on us, we’d have been b******* if Wael hadn’t done the same for us. Most successful teams have money invested in them. I hope FGR continue to do well this season esp v Mansfield!
UTG!

I and my friend went to the PV game and unwittingly found ourselves amongst these individuals, at the side of the Away end adjacent to the Railway Stand at Vale Park. What a revelation! One well middle aged 'fan' cavorted about and had to be restrained by a steward. Said fan went down heavily on the concrete steps and metal seat support. How he was not badly injured I don't know. Hey ho.

Suspect Gloucestershire finest police force are already planning for the el glossico matches at Whaddon Road and the New Lawn.
Also interested how they will handle 3500 Derby County fans!

It will be interesting to see, you’re right. But good luck to FGR. I guess Derby will have a ticket allocation just like Sunderland and Wednesday will and they will have to keep (more or less) to it. If they didn’t want to visit places like that or us for that matter, they should have made sure that they didn’t fiddle the rules! Deserve all they get imo, the EFL is now decided on footballing merit not the size of the fan base. UTG!

The irony is, I can see it actually working for FGR to bring things down to their level....a taste of Twerton medicine.... they'll probably be ok. But it just goes to show how far they've come, and we've dropped since December 2019, but we still have opportunity to match their promotion.

Even though what happened was disappointing do you honestly believe that if we won promotion one day at say Cardiff , Plymouth or Swansea & invaded the pitch to celebrate there wouldn’t be any reaction from the home fans & they would all stand around & clap. Nice to think nothing would happen, but I guarantee sadly it would. Still believe who ever was in charge of safety at the Mem should have realised at a local Derby with a lot riding on the result for both sides there was a strong possibility of a pitch invasion if FGR gained the point they needed & would have had a large line of police/stewards in readiness in front of the away fans.

Agree with this. If the stewards/police stopped them coming on the pitch like they are supposed to it would have stopped everything
