Whatever, I hope we do better than our last League 1 season! I can’t see JB allowing us to be as bad as then. ps. Did you get your ticket? I hope so. UTG!

Why not? We have momentum. Obviously depends on recruitment and preseason, but a strong possibility.

L2 will be tough but, as I said in another thread, the L2-promoted teams did very well this year (Plymouth 7th, Cambs 14th, Chelts 15th, Morecambe 19th) so there's nothing to suggest we can't be a comfortable, mid-table consolidation team at a minimum.
I'm cautiously optimistic if we get the recruitment right. I'd be straight on the blower to Eddie Howe regarding keeping Billy for six months at least, and give Evans' reps a call too!
Edit: L1 now bitches!!!

I fancy our chances with a few reinforcements in the right areas and contract extensions where applicable

Like the optimism but League 1 is as tough as it has ever been and we are likely to lose of the key players from this season. A mid table finish would bea success.

Keeping the majority of this group of players with the spirit that is evidently running through it and the fans together could take us a long way. With a few extra bits of quality added who knows......
Going to be tough with the teams that will be in league 1 next year so probably be happy with consolidation. But why not think big after what we did this season!

The story of Bristol Rovers continues.
We are on a roll. I can’t see our management team not aiming for playoffs again. We have a winning mentality, a new positive forward thinking management team and a culture that kicks out footballers that are pretending to be winners. The attitude of success will continue.
We have a style of play that is transportable through the divisions and so yes, like many, I’m confident.
I am not a betting man but as season progressed I, like so many, started to have great hope for this team. At the end of January, I put £100 at 12-1 on the gas getting promoted this season. Lucky boy.
The club has kicked out negative vibe players. We replaced with ones that run their socks of for the shirt. The truth is this talented bunch out run teams and it’s great to see.
Promotion next season. Why not? To attract the best you have to aim high. That’s Bristol Rovers these days. Strap yourself in and enjoy the journey. The story with this attitude and mentality has not finished yet.

Consolidation is certainly a target and I don’t disagree with much of what you say. I feel this management team will aim higher and have a target of playoffs or better. It’s how they think. Joining a club on a journey to championship or better will attract the best to join our journey. Be interesting how we strengthen squad.

The step up is greater as you have relegated championship clubs to contend with.
Due to the nature of the squad (which was built to do a specific job) it will need rebuilding.
So it may be a slow start again as new players find their feet and existing players adapt to league 1.
Will JB work on the same idea ? As in build a team to do a specific job over 1 season .
So maybe expect a couple of old heads to join . With another 5 loan signings joining the squad across the 2 windows. There will inevitably be players who leave the club for varying reasons...and we can only wish them the very best for the future.
JB is ambitious and will want to be at least challenging for a playoff spot come next April. With the changes at the club this year to up the game ,will further changes and improvements be needed ? Will this mean changes will have to happen at the Mem ? Will the pitch invasions mean the club will have to make the thatchers end all seater or have its capacity reduced ?
Time will reveal the answers im sure.

Usually the momentum carries a promoted side on into the following season, just look at Lincoln last season and Plymouth this season.
Although that will only happen if JB remains our manager next season and we keep the likes of Evans and Collins. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Connolly and if he does depart then who JB brings in as the centre back pairing.

Quality of JB's signings,eg our keeper and the loanees has been brilliant compared with the mediocrity of previous years. Loft an interesting conundrum and seeing his previous team disappear over the horizon must have been difficult.Recall when DC signed a new team following our own demise, I never knew any of 'em but those with quality to suit that level soon made their mark. Not one player left from the previous promotion but the fans stay forever through thick and thin.

i know we will probably lose Taylor and Billy Elliot but with some strengthening of the defence a striker experienced at league1 level, with belief this team are playing with i think we can make the top six as i said elsewhere if scummy Wycombe can do it we can and with a far more attractive style of football.
