Mistakes..like fans attacking opposition players those are not actions of law abiding citizens crap response ..you can't just disregard the majority of my post and say that with a straight face. I respect police stewards who have hard enough job without thugs spoiling it for fans who behave sensibly and respect others You clearly do not respect other posters viewx. I actually think you raised some good points but your last sentence in regards to DC was rubbish , you’ve also then gone on to make yourself look a tad foolish by claiming to know that I don’t respect others posters views , I respect all views but it doesn’t mean i have to agree with you , ooops I almost forgot to add a patronising x Come on okebourne, Herbert said what DC did was unacceptable, which it was and probably why DC apologised very quickly. DC is a hero to us but what he did was still wrong. Yes he was/is under pressure but it shouldn’t have happened and DC knows it. Don’t think any disrespect was shown in herberts post. UTG!

Difference is when we invaded the pitch we celebrated with our players didn’t goad any Scunthorpe fans or did we do anything to their players or staff. How it should be done. And these playoff pitch invasions are pathetic as they’ve only done half the job Proved by the footage doing the rounds from the Scunthorpe away end. FGR almost ruined by a couple of the goading and a few of our lot deciding to respond. Below quote short, sweet and spot on. Don't like his antics but at least he's prepared to take back the stuff he dishes out Swindon forward Harry McKirdy said on Instagram: "I'll take the stick and the songs. But bottles, coins, lighters thrown [at] me, running on and hitting and kicking me/team-mates. Too far." Largely agree but McKirdy doesn’t get to set the agenda. He spends a season winding up opposition fans then wonders why they go over the top. Not the sharpest knife in the box is he? He should know that he’s not always dealing with sensible, reflective people at those moments. But you are right about it being unacceptable. But players have a responsibility too, celebrate in front of your supporters but don’t go antagonising opposition fans and McK does it all the time. Btw, the EFL already have laws about over-celebrating by players. It’s why Loft was booked at PV though he did it with our supporters. I expect those laws to be strengthened for next season. UTG!

Trouble at and around grounds is on the rise , on newsnight last night I think they said trouble was up 36% since fans returned to grounds after Covid lockdowns. Over what time period? Measured since covid lockdowns isn't a good sample. There's not a chance in hell that there's more trouble in 2022 than there was in 1982. Difference is reporting, cctv, mobile phones etc. A chap on BBC Breakfast this morning, who played in the 1980's, said that he never felt threatened when fans invaded the pitch. The difference being that fans had respect for players of both teams back then. These days fans abuse players on social media, and a minority think that it's ok to take this behaviour onto the pitch, in the form of physical abuse. It's extremly cowardly as it is done within the protection of being part of a crowd, and they also know that it is not in the players' best interests to retaliate. Can you imagine that young Everton fan getting in Patrick Viera's face like that if he saw him walking down the street, and didn't have the back-up of fellow fans around him - not a chance!

You'd hope McKirdy would wind it in a bit now with antagonising fans as it does make him a target. I've seen ex 82ers play down the mem and get a bit of stick, score and cup their ears. 99% of fans say "fair enough" a handful demand they get arrested for inciting the crowd. Interesting read in one of the papers that due to covid and no supporters those who spot potential trouble makers have had to start again. Is a player antagonisng the crowd more than a yellow card, should those in the crowd also be held more responsible for their actions. I've never understood those that say some footballers are paid enough so they should be able to deal with it. I know that if I was worth a silly amount of money for playing football but got direct abuse from fans I'd probably snap. Group chants fine but those direct obscenities from individuals must really get to you

I think a lot of this is a kind of mob rule for want if a better term.
As much in life today, commit a offence/crime on your own you get dealt with, if a large group commit a offence/crime the authorities just try to disperse with no repercussions.
It’s a strange one to find a solution.

As an Everton fan who has personally never invaded a pitch in over 50 years of going to football but I am a tad angry about the abuse my club has received because one idiot thought it funny to get into Vieras face. The lad was an idiot and I dont blame Viera kicking out at him but it should also be noted other Everton fans escorted Viera away from the problem. Why were they on the pitch? This has been an absolute shitshow of a season for us starting with us employing a despised manager whos main claim to fame was winning trophies with the dark side this was never going to work.We also have to live with our biggest rivals potentially winning every trophy available while we were on the verge of relegation for the first time in 70 years. At half time we were 2 down on the verge of relegation then a miracle happened, you lads/lasses know what it is like to see a miracle played out in front of your eyes you saw one quite recently football is a game of emotions sometimes you laugh sometimes you cry but its like a drug and you cant walk away. Surely the issue isn't about fans going on the pitch it's what they do when they get there which has become the issue this season, there's clearly no easy way to protect 50(?) players and coaching staff from both teams so you can now see the EFL stating any club's fans who enter the pitch will receive a 3 pts penalty, possibly even denied promotion/a play off final place. I agree moving forward that something has to be done about pitch invasions but I dont really know how you can tackle it , the obvious solution is fences but nobody wants to go back to that again. A points deduction is fraught with the possibility of opponents sabotaging matches the have lost or maybe not even playing in.

Is there any other sport where you score a goal and run immediately to the corner flag and celebrate wildly in front of the opposition fans. Back in the day I used to trot nonchalantly back to my position after collecting a few hand shakes, high fives and an occasional @$$ pat. Hmmm 🤔 ….. how many fans were watching you play for the Dog & Duck ? Actually it was The Dog and Duck reserves. Up the Spaniels

And these playoff pitch invasions are pathetic as they’ve only done half the job A Rovers fan was clearly goading the young Scunthorpe goalie after we scored our 7th, and that was even before the game ended!

Yes, it must suck being an Everton fan, 70 years at the top level must've been really tough! Its all relative mate, I can understand why you would think what the hell have you got to moan about and I admit I have been very lucky I have seen us win 3 league titles,3 fa cup finals and a cup winners cup final in Rotterdam but there is now a generation of fans who have seen nothing for 27 years while having to go to work or school and have there noses rubbed in at by fans of the cult who never go near Anfield but wear all the old tat from the club shop as soon as a trophy appears. There are actually 5 times more Everton season ticket holders with Liverpool post codes than Liverpudlians. Going back to the original topic there seems to all media darlings queuing up to have a pop at us, like yourselves we had a pitch invasion yours was celebratory ours was out of relieve nobody got hurt we had one idiot who goaded Veira and got a deserved kick up the harris. I read Klopp saying that people should not go onto the pitch yet the same fella ran on the pitch while the game was still going on when Origi scored for Liverpool in a Derby, We have even had the horse punchers sticking there oar in saying we should have a points deduction.

But good to hear from you. 👍 We’ve had a grim time health wise here tbh, I’m ok but others been very poor. Atm fingers crossed for the longer term. So all well and made better by us going up, AFCB going up and Everton surviving ....just! Stay good my friend! UTG!

I’ll be over for a few games in November and will try not to run on the pitch. I’ll also be salty AF if I have to wait another 138 years for the next 7 nil routing.

It’s OK for the Premier league but not the EFL! You'd think it would be the other way around. In monetary terms, Jack grealish getting piled on or Stevie G getting nutted is way more newsworthy than an EFL player getting kicked on the nads.
