Hoole 4 his marking position 3rd and poor distribution
Connolly 7 nice game.
Gibson 7.5 m o m looked class with time on ball and timely interception.

Rossiter 6 run of the mill.
Whelan 3 can't go round doing that.
Coutts 6 tough game to start.

Evans 4 poor delivery open play, and it was his (un)marking for their 1st.
Finley 7 integral part of mid.
Collins 7 took his goal well and buzzed

Marquis 5 looks like he's got Rommel's boots on and then goes on the rob for our goal...

Kilgour 5 not the same as I remember him pre injury.
Saunders 6 looks to improve the tempo of any match.

Ref 2 got 2/3 major game turning decisions wrong, but someone sang 2 put of 3 ain't bad once....and he was a sheeeeeeeethead too.
Portsmouth 7.5 weren't as ruthless as their chances created, but were organised and bombastic. They fully deserved their win, horse for courses, they usually do down there and we can strike this one off the jinxy scoreboard where something controversial usually happens........to our detriment.

Belshaw 5.5 not as confident as usual

Hoole 5 - didn't look comfortable especially first half playing behind Evans who was not much help defensively
Connolly 5.5 - too many errors
Gibson 6 - not too bad. Shame that he had to come off because the club are managing his workload due to past fitness issues

Rossiter 5.5 - improving but not yet effective
Whelan 5 - thought that he was good for the first twenty minutes but then poor
Coutts 5.5 - still not match sharp

Evans 4 very poor
Finley 6 an average game by his standards. Looks like he will be sent off every game
Collins 6.5 looked lost in first half but a real threat in the second. Was fouled for the not given penalty and probably would have got it for the push if he hadn't clearly tried to move his leg towards the player to try and initiate other contact

Marquis 5.5 tried hard with poor service. Did well with the assist for our goal

Subs: Anderson 5.5 side definitely improved with him in it but not at his best
Loft 5 doesn't improve the side when coming on
Kilgour 4 didn't inspire confidence
Saunders 4.5

Ref 3.5 A lot of baffling decisions. Hard to see from the away end if he got the Whelan card correct
Portsmouth 7.5 will be in the top six. Do not think that the Barton formation worked and they should of been more than a goal up at half. They have great support and the ground creates a good atmosphere. Apart from the result enjoyed the match. My first visit there since we played a pre-season friendly there in the 1960s

Belshaw a few iffy kicks and didn't have the chance to play the sweeper keeper he excels in 6

Hoole Some nice bits of skill and generally ok given we had no fullbacks 6
Connolly was trying to marshall back three but some of his distribution was poor. 6
Gibson best of back 3 nice touches and passed out well. Doesn't look the biggest centre half 7.5

Rossiter jury out for me, buzzed around a lot and defensively sound but we needed more guile 6
Whelan not his day, not a midfield to win a game but until their first goal we had stifled them with our control, unnecessary tackle but showed his competitiveness 5
Coutts looked better this week has an authority about him, but almost got caught out a few times in possession 6

Evans really not his day lost his marker on the first but we didn't sign him for his heading ability, (we miss Taylor as a dominate centre half) his forward play was limited and even set plays poor. 5
Finley busy in midfield but sadly not able to change the game 6
Collins Needed to put a much bigger shift in. Great goal, at the time and i still think it was a penalty but didn't see him working as hard as we needed. 5

Marquis couldn't hear much stick from the Pompey fans but sure he had it. Worked hard but the few balls that came his way he failed to hold onto. Created goal by sheer persistence. 5
