Hi everyone,
We’ve noticed there has been a considerable amount of personal attacks over the last few days. Yesterday has probably incensed many of us after we were by many accounts done over by the referee.
Such personal attacks have spoiled what have otherwise been very valid posts. And have often been by members we quite like and would not want to have to take action against.
However, the golden gaschat rule of attack the post not the poster still remains.
I understand there’s quite a few posts from supporters of other clubs or even from our own which may seem as if they’re on a wind up, but if you see these sorts of post or any which contain abuse of other posters please flag them up to us so we can take a look as a moderator team.
If anyone wants to discuss anything which may have been getting on their wick of late, please drop a note through to myself or one of the other mods. We don’t see every post so might miss some things so any message or reported post is appreciated even if we might not agree on the resolution.

Well said and i noticed some name calling and i think that is not necessary. We should be able to have different opinions without being subject to abuse. A well timed post, nice one

Good post. Well timed.
Whilst I concur with the o p and even empathise with the ee of mod (to some extent), I think this is a reflection of society on a whole, and there are some that can't convey their convo in any other way!
That's just the way it is... it's only words.

If the only thing they offer is name calling then they need to have a time out.

If the only thing they offer is name calling then they need to have a time out. Completely random and arbitrary post. 7 days....? Why not more? ...or less?? And who's to say what is an attack on poster instead of post, particularly if there appears to be inconsistencies....? Anyways, I'm right and if you don't agree, you all smell ... 🤭

Anyways, I'm right and if you don't agree, you all smell ... 🤭 7 days isn't arbitrary. Its a week. A unit of measurement. In these situations you want to have a full unit of measure. A day, a week, a month or a year. A day isn't long enough, if someone is being a dick the likely hood is a day later they'll still be a dick. A week later they would have had a chance to think about things and whether they want to be part of the community. It's pretty obvious what is an attack on the poster, rather than the post. One is about the content, the other is about the poster. Saying that this is a completely random post is acceptable, it's about the post. Saying "I've gone through all your posts and you are always completely random, so no one should take your perspective seriously" is an attack on the poster. Whenever there is a high profile Suicide, we say "Be Kind". However that sometimes gets forgotten all too easily when talking to each other on a forum.

I think as a mod team we won’t have much issue with someone calling someone out for repeat posting behaviours and I’d be a hypocrite myself if I did. After all, that’s attacking the post which is repeatedly the same. The crux is more likely how someone goes about it - using terms like tosser, dickhead or bellend is where we’ll draw the line.

Please don’t include me in this meaningless platitude. Thank you for using that. I didn't understand and had to Google. Very succinct and absolutely on point.

Yes, I did. I hadn't heard that phrase before. It’s a good phrase. Basically every trending hashtag. In terms of being kind, we say it AFTER the person dies. We also are selective about it, if it’s a political opponent, or someone says something we find offensive, it’s full steam ahead ruin their life. Afterwards we post a be kind hashtag. This isn’t directed at whoever posted it above BTW, it’s a general comment on the absolute state of people today.

Careful.. you'll be accusing people of "virtue signalling" before long In all fairness, if you use twitter and other platforms then they are full of platitudes. I think people in this country have trouble with intimacy and so they use platitudes.

I am struggling to understand how being kind to other people can be seen as a bad thing but it would appear that some on here believe it is.

I think it's the irony that someone will say be kind and then demonstrate different behaviour towards another person. Like saying, be kind and then saying "That Donald Trump should rot in jail for the rest of his small handed, incline adverse life"

Like saying, be kind and then saying "That Donald Trump should rot in jail for the rest of his small handed, incline adverse life" It would be the kindest thing for the rest of the world if he was rotting in jail.
