Just been announced another train strike scheduled for October 1st (Sat) and October 5th (Wed). For those of us who have already bought train tickets for Exeter (A) on the 1st this isn't great news.....

Solidarity with the strikers.. but.. eeek.. that really does rather muck up my Exeter (a) plans! Yeah agreed I’m on there side too. On other strike days there has been a limited service as well so we might still be ok. Reckon the trains that do run might be a bit ‘cosy’ tho !

Staying with family in Dawlish so hoping a few local trains might still be running. Otherwise, I do have sympathy with the train drivers but what a pain in the ar*e!

Blimey! They like their Saturday strikes don’t they? Had to alter my plans to attend the Pompey match due to strike now I can’t do an easy train trip to Exeter.
UTG!

Not too bad but sometimes it’s nice to let the train take the strain!! Oh well. UTG!

Would normally be a day on the lash on the train but we are now making a weekend of it - two nights at a nice B&B in Tiverton. Bus from there down to Exeter on Saturday morning, a bit of lunch and hopefully see Spurs get a result against the Goon before heading to SJP. Should be a decent one.

Anyone know if trains are still running but limited service, or none running at all? I see GWR are still selling tickets!

Anyone know if trains are still running but limited service, or none running at all? I see GWR are still selling tickets! Yeah the website is still selling tickets, but I guess we can expect most of the services to be cancelled / replaced with bus service. www.gwr.com/strike"The Aslef and RMT unions have announced their intention to take industrial action at a number of train companies, including GWR, on Saturday 1 October. Aslef has also announced its intention to take industrial action on Wednesday 5 October. The TSSA union has announced its intention to take action short of strike on Saturday 1 and Wednesday 5 October. On these days train services will be severely disrupted and many parts of the GWR network will have no train service at all. Train services on the days following the industrial action will also be disrupted. On strike days an extremely limited service will operate between 07:30 and 18:30, and the last trains will leave much earlier.Where we are able to run services, they are expected to be extremely busy and we are not able to provide bus replacement services.Online journey planners will be updated with the latest timetable information as soon as possible.Passengers are advised to find alternative ways to travel on these days. Only travel by train if absolutely necessary. The majority of train services will not operate and there will be no services on many routes.Customers who have already purchased tickets for strike days can claim a full refund or amend their ticket; those who travel and are delayed may be entitled to Delay Repay compensation if they are delayed by 15 minutes or more. Season ticket holders can apply for compensation through the Delay Repay scheme. Our Refund and Book with Confidence policies will remain in place and we will update this page with more information if the current situation changes."

I’ve got match tickets but haven’t sorted travel out yet, is it worth getting a train ticket or not?

We were going to get the train from bridgwater and have a few beers. Now being picked up by friends passing through bridgwater, so a few beers still on the cards. Happy days

What’s the best option then? Haven’t got a driver so will have to be bus/coach/train I imagine there will be lots of people finding alternative means of travel. You could try one of the facebook groups to see if anyone laying on coaches or has space in their car? The supporters club also have spaces on their 2nd coach: bristolroverssc.co.uk/event/away-game-at-exeter-city-2/
