Glad they are finally listening. A kick up the backside from TG for someone no doubt. The tails shouldn't have to wag the dog though. Hopefully Nicks bucket collection by the SC goes well and it might also help spring others FC employees into action. I also hope the SC bucket collection for Nick goes well. However, how many will be going out of their way to the SC hut to make a donation? Hopefully it is all around the ground, but reading Slams post suggests otherwise.

If anybody listened to having a gas last night it was explained why the BRFPA was not being held at the Mem due to the home game with Plymouth and hence it was moved to the Gloucestershire cricket ground Nevil Road

Not sure what the issue is there?

Didn't the Mem used to accommodate parties Friday, football Saturday, rugby Sunday, reserves Monday and football Tuesday?

Good to see that there are now a few events.
Just my opinion, but as fans we have to support and promote these events as they do add extra revenue to the club.
There is something for everyone from the Tote End Walk, Halloween party, World Cup, Xmas Parties etc.
Personally I think the club should try and get the players to attend as many of these as possible.
I know from my social events organising days, it makes it easy to promote if the likes of Rammell, Sinclair or Lambert are attending and quite simply, the bigger the attendance, the more money raised, both for the event itself and over the bar.

I know it might be a question of looking after the pitch but a bit surprised there isn't a Rugby League world cup game locally. Worked well back in 2013 when we had 7000 at the mem for Cook Islands v USA. 2 minnows that were sent our way as those in the Rugby corridors of power thought no one would turn up to watch. Not a rugby expert but it was an enjoyable night and players from both teams seemed happy to play to a decent crowd. Did a few local school visits as well. Particularly enjoyed the one flag drapped USA fan who got shouted down every he started 'U.S.A.' He took it as the bit of fun it was intended as.

Yeah equally surprised they did not try to get a rugby league game staged here.
My Mrs worked in the catering dept for over ten years and I remember her telling me Robert Laurence saying they got paid to host the event, and made tens of thousands over the bars and selling food.
It's a bit like the Uni v UWE rugby games. The club made huge amounts for those games. I recall the City offered a loss leader to switch the games from the Mem to Ashton and then a few years later they were kicked out of because of bad language and fighting!
You may have missed the advertising for the 3 grounds walk to the Mem but that made around £10k for the Community Trust.
Don't forget the World Cup games are available to watch at the Mem (ticket only) as well as Xmas parties, so contact the club and get them quick.

Not sure how you can call a decision "shameful" when nobody on here seems to have a clue why it was made? But what's these time of need you talk about I'd imagine Rovers as a club are in the best financial position they've been for years it's not like they are desperate for every pound they can get. Hey, we're all different, and I think theres potentially great strength in that. We can disagree. But, through some of the harshest times (and we've seen worse before), the notion of a Gas family where we draw on each others' strengths, no matter what indifference, have become important. Some of the past players may have played through those times. Some of us may have watched them, or even gotten their signature for kids for future generations, the relationship at some points have been symbiotic. Almost like family. To some. Not all. Imagine welcoming back some of your family you might have struggled with in harder times back to your home, and inviting them for a drink? .....then presenting them with a bill!? Like I said, we're all different fair enough, I'm aware there's a cost to be covered, but if the club can't distinguish between the a cost and how much something is valued (that's the shameful bit for me, it appears the club haven't done their best to accommodate), don't be surprised if you and me will be costed out too at some point. It ain't good enough for me. Is it for you? Well said and i agree with every word EDIT I used to feel that i was part of an extended family, we had friendly faces in the Kingswood shop and all around. You built up relationships with those people and this just made the bond, to the club, so much stronger. We have lost that now and it feels like each new initiative is yet another breaking up of that bond. I am glad i am old enough to have had that as it was what made us so different from the other club and another reason why i stayed with rovers after i was old enough to go on my own. The number plate recognition, is that staying in place ? I don’t understand why the club is pulling away and even alienating some to be honest.

I see Seat Unique have organised a Ministry of Sound gig at the County Ground featuring Judge Jules - even an old fogey like me has heard of him.
Is the Country Ground that much better a set up than the Mem? Definately more space and perhaps more liberal residents that wont complain as much?
Presumably any attendees have to stay off the square?
Also good to see the Blue Diamonds get a worthy mention on the official website for fundraising for Nick during a meal at the Concorde hanger.
Any news on any events at the Mem?

Someone will be along soon to tell you that there’s no way we can possibly have a concert at the Mem outside, despite the fact that there’s no problems at all doing it a mile down the road.
