Belshaw 7.5 some good saves, gave away the penalty but we were carved open long before that. Gibbons 7.5 a good game and the right side looks far better with his return. Hoole 8 . he seemed to occupy almost every defensive position as our formation was constantly changing he's a managers dream! Thomas 8 strong and uncompromising. Gordon 6.5 had his work cut out but stuck to it ok. Evans 8 much better.more like his old self, better deliveries too. Rossiter 8 another strong game,he won nearly every battle. Finley 8'5 m.o.m. he was at the heart of almost everything and is forming a strong partnership with Rossiter. Collins 8 a superb assist and ran tirelessly. Coburn 7 looks quality, he will become a top player. Loft 6.5 grafted hard but not really his day. Subs: Gibson 7 he helped shore up the defence late on when we were under the cosh. McCormick 6 he had little time to impose himself on the game. Jasper 5 made no difference. Coutts n.o.l.e Clarke n.o.l.e. Ref 4 bewildering Cambridge 6 played in the traditional Cambridge way,a difficult side to play against,we did well to beat them.

Belshaw 5.5 didn't have to bring down his man. For me, is struggling to find the form of last season.
Gibbons 6.5 nice to see him back but made some mistakes. Hoole 8.5 m o m fantastic, nothing went past him and there when it mattered to claim a goal. I can see him becoming captain one day. Thomas 7.5 strong performance. Gordon 7.5 much improved flank play
Evans 6 struggling to find his matchwinning form. Rossiter 8 much improved, broke everything up. Finley 8.5 excellent the heartbeat of the team. Some great passing Collins 8 not as clinical match but his assist and his slick movement is brilliant to watch. Consistently high standard and high energy makes him exciting player to watch.
Coburn 7 nice debut goal. What a man mountain!? Hopefully more goals to come. Loft 6.5 took a back seat to presence of Coburn but still worked hard and give them a few matches and a bind, a physically formidable partnership could be lethal.
Subs: Gibson 6.5 nice to see him back. McCormick 7 slid in nicely. Jasper 7.5 always looks dangerous, nearing a start. Coutts 6.5 unnoticed. Clarke nole.
Ref 6.5 got most things right but def 1 penalty claim for us, he awarded a foul the other way? Cambridge 5.5 decent team but probably won't end up above half way so we should be beating these sorts of teams. Nice following, made some noise and added to the atmosphere.
So.....we revert to a back 4 and it immediately pays dividends...!? Straight away we looked more balanced, composed and our with the ball found its man.
Much like last season, when we switched, the results started coming!
Well done JAB for working that one out 25% season gone....of course it can be fluid and changeable, but it felt right yesterday and I thought we dominated the best chances of the game and the middle of the park.
Nice to see some injuries back. Nice to see debut goal and in the first throws of the season, our strikers scoring. Nice to see a goal during NA applause!
We move on...

Belshaw 7.5 - made some good saves, can’t blame him too much for the penalty as he had to try and win the ball.
Gibbons 7.5 - kept the ball, linked well going forwards, put a few decent balls into the box, even had a couple of efforts on goal too and it was very noticeable from where I was standing first half how vocal he is in organising too. He’s a good addition. Hoole 7.5 - possibly one of his better games, again used the ball well, played a part in the goal and the only thing he needs is to become a bit nastier as a defender. Thomas 7 - won a lot of headers and didn’t look too troubled. Needs to get more of an understanding with Gordon, as cambridge created a couple of openings on their side first half. Gordon 7 - like gibbons he joined in well with attacks and was linking play nicely, should have had a penalty for that run and cross he did., maybe needs to improve his one on one defending, which will come in time.
Evans 6 - I thought he did well positionally without the ball to help the team defensively. Showed a couple of flashes first half of what he can do from a dead ball. Can’t think of him giving much away, but still not as effective as we want him to be though. Rossiter 8 - him and Finley were excellent I thought, picking up the second balls, keeping it simple, getting stuck in and also turning them around when we needed to by going long. They were a good pairing. Finley 8 - see rossiter Collins 7 - good assist for the goal. Had a couple of efforts on goal himself. Cut out the diving though mate.
Coburn 7.5 - a very good debut (minus the dive for a yellow) held it up well, looks strong in the air and took his chance when it came his way. Ran out of steam by the end. Loft 7 - I thought he had a decent game, like coburn he always held it up and in the main kept the ball for us and was putting himself about all game. Looked strong and confident. Should have done better with that chance first half though.
Subs: most didn’t really have long enough to make that much of an impact but they helped see us over the line. Gibson 5 McCormick 5 Jasper 6 Coutts 5 Clarke 5

Your post must have the same eye sight as that ref. We was not at the same game yesterday. Disagree! He's been at fault with the last 2 goals conceded, and although he's saved us many times before, to me looks disjointed. Distribution poor. He shot stopped one, a regulatory dive, but in our team I believe he no one under performed... The ref added plenty of time, as expected and pretty much got everything right apart from the foul that he booked Collins for diving. So, outperformed. I'm just not taking Belly performances for granted this season...

I'm just not taking Belly performances for granted this season... Ref missed a blatant handball. Blew up for a blatant dive by them, even though the player protested, didn’t book him. But was quick to book our dives. Belly didn’t do anything wrong, despite giving away the pen, the damage for that was done in front of him, hence why he didn’t get sent off. Genuine effort to get the ball = yellow card.

The damage was done in front of him - agree - it was a beautiful through ball, but Belly risked a sending off , because I do agree with you he went for the ball, but surely you don't give refs opportunity to issue red cards? He was at fault....who knows, had play contained, he may have saved it? But even if he didn't, no one could have blamed him as it was a good move. He cost us 2 goals imo.
